It has been over two years since Valve has added a new Counter-Strike operation.
The rumors about a new CS2 operation intensified after Counter-Strike celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 19.
Operations used to be the pinnacle of new content back in CS:GO days as players got to experiment with new maps, buy new skins, and participate in exclusive missions. However, Valve hasn't made a new operation for CS:GO or CS2 since the end of Operation Riptide in February 2022.

When will Valve add a new operation to CS2?
As of the time of this writing on June 25, Valve hasn't promised to bring a new operation to CS2. However, every seasoned player knows at this point that Valve rarely announces any big updates. The developer simply drops it when everybody isn't expecting it.
While we still don't know the exact date, it does look like Valve is preparing to release a new operation to CS2 as part of the celebration of the franchise's 25th birthday, according to trusted Valve data miner GabeFollower.
The data miner found heavy indications that not only a new CS2 operation is on the content pipeline, but also a handful of new maps as map creators have been recently updating their work, including the beloved fy_pool_day, which is still played a lot on Counter-Strike 1.6's community servers as we reported on June 19.
If Valve wishes to celebrate Counter-Strike's 25th anniversary by releasing an operation, it should add the content soon before too much time passes. The community has been waiting for it since June 19 and is hoping to get a new operation by the end of June 2024. However, we shouldn't expect Valve to hurry up after all these years, right?
