Vitality demolish NAVI at BLAST Premier World Finals

Vitality and NAVI was one fo the first few matches in the final Tier 1 CS2 event of the year. Competing in the BLAST World Finals in Abu Dhabi, this event has several unknowns after a slew of roster changes over the past few weeks. Here’s everything you need to know about Vitality vs NAVI matchup.

While expectations for high for this series to be more competitive, it was hardly the case. NAVI completely dominated the series and the 2-0 scoreline does not do it justice.

NAVI won the pistol and the next two rounds, but that seemed to be where Vitality applied the brakes. Once the Vitality players got weapons in their hands, they looked extremely comfortable with their planning and strategies. 

After NAVI had secured a 4-1 lead, some stellar all-round performances throughout the Vitality squad saw them win six of the last seven rounds in the first half. When Vitality won the first five rounds on the CT side, it was all but a formality for them to close it out.

It was a well-rounded performance by the Vitality squad, with no single player standing out. We’ve seen matches where one player (whose name ends in O) stands out, towering over the rest. But the distribution of frags in the Vitality team against NAVI was almost equal highlighting the strength of their synergy and strategies.

And when the player with the lowest frags on the squad manages to pull off daring defuses as the one above, it’s really difficult to lose. Vitality won NAVI’s pick of Anubis with 13-8 score.

Overpass saw Vitality step up their aggression after a confident victory on Anubis. The team marched ahead to a 9-3 lead in the first half.

NAVI had a breath of life when they won the first three rounds in the second half. It gave NAVI fans a ray of hope as they wished for NAVI to mount a comeback. Unfortunately, it was a similar story for their fans as Vitality was the dominant team with guns in their hands.

With this victory, Vitality will now play Cloud9, after C9’s victory against ENCE earlier in the day. The winner of that match will send one team directly to the semifinals. The BLAST Premier World Finals is a five-day event at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The tournament has a million dollar prize pool and has eight of the world’s best teams in competition.
