Virtus.Pro vs Team Spirit: Will this be donk’s “electroNic” performance?

Virtus.Pro will take on Team Spirit in the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice 2025 quarterfinals. Virtus.Pro have secured their slot battling it all the way through the Play-In Stage. Meanwhile, defending champions Team Spirit are still in the event to retain their glory and the trophy. Here’s all you need to know about the Virtus.Pro versus Team Spirit match at IEM Katowice 2025. 

Virtus.Pro received an invite to IEM Katowice based on their Valve Global Standings. The team had to go through the Play-In Stage where they secured victories over SAW and MIBR. The series against SAW was a relative walkthrough for Virtus.Pro, but they did manage to win against a resurgent MIBR. 

The Group Stage saw them put to the test with the first match against G2 Esports. G2 Esports recently underwent a few changes and didn't break Virtus.Pro's momentum, losing 0-2 to Denis "electroNic" Sharipov and his team. Despite their best efforts, and a valiant performance by Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, G2 were unable to clinch the second map in overtime. 

Virtus.Pro managed a reverse sweep against Eternal Fire with Train going into overtime. Eternal Fire still managed to qualify for the Playoffs through the lower bracket. With this win, Virtus.Pro secured their spot in the Playoffs, with the match against Vitality determining the seeding. Virtus.Pro lost to Vitality 0-2, but that did not impact their Playoffs qualification. 

Team Spirit’s first loss in the event came against NAVI, their arch rivals in the region. The team had to claw back through the lower bracket with a win against Team Liquid and GamerLEgion. The loss to NAVI was their biggest challenge, but it will be interesting to see if the squad learns from their mistakes and performs better in the Playoffs.

With no roster changes recently, Virtus.Pro aims to bring back some of the lost glory for the organization. With a mix of experience and talent, the team does have what it takes to succeed. However, going up against Team Spirit, one of the best teams in the scene is never going to be easy.

Team Spirit’s roster has been extremely successful — the prodigy donk has performed beyond expectations. The team has been together for most of the past two years, and that ensures stability and an understanding of each other’s gameplay. While donk is inevitably the star on the squad, the entire team has performed well as a unit, allowing it to win top-tier events.
