Ultimate will play for the first tier-one CS2 team of his career.
Team Liquid signed the 20-year-old Polish AWPer Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, the organization announced on July 12.
Ultimate joins Team Liquid's CS2 roster to effectively replace the star sniper Casper "cadiaN" Møller, who left the active lineup in June. While ultimate will take on all AWPing duties that belonged to cadiaN, he'll not replace him 1:1 as the Dane was also the team's captain.
Although Team Liquid still hasn't announced who will be the new in-game leader, there are rumors that Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken will become the captain.
Before announcing ultimate on July 12, Team Liquid confirmed the addition of head coach Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg on July 11. The organization highlighted mithR's "track record of developing IGLs", which hints that Twistzz will be the new captain.
Enough talking about mithR and Twistzz, it's time to delve into who ultimate is and why Team Liquid made a bet on him.

Who is Team Liquid's new CS2 player ultimate?
Ultimate is a young Polish AWPer who never played for a tier-one team upon joining Team Liquid. The 20-year-old lastly played for Illuminar between March and June 2024, and burst into the scene with AGO in 2022 as he went on to attend ESL Pro League season 15.
Team Liquid might have gone for ultimate instead of a more proven AWPer because there weren't a lot of options available in this off-season rather than ENCE's benched player Aleksander "hades" Miskiewicz. Every other good AWPer is already under contract and playing for other big CS2 organizations.
That said, however, ultimate's pickup might prove great if he manages to translate his performances in tier-two to tier-one. The Pole has averaged a 1.17 rating, 1.20 K/D ratio, and 77.2 ADR in 2024 thus far, according to HLTV.
Ultimate will debut with Twistzz and co. at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups between July 29 and August 4.
