One of the biggest Indian Counter-Strike LAN events has just received a setback due to the timing of the country’s elections. Featuring teams such as Liquid, ENCE, NiP, and BIG, the Skyesports Masters 2024 LAN finals are now canceled. The event will now host an online Finals on the same dates.
Skyesports Masters 2024 Finals Canceled (Only LAN version)
Earlier this week, the Government of India announced the dates for elections in the world’s largest democracy. With the largest population in the world, the elections are a prolonged event that run for several weeks.
With the Indian General Elections set to begin in April, it has proved extremely challenging to obtain the necessary approvals for hosting a large-scale on-ground event. Thus, while we were really looking forward to welcoming all teams to Mumbai, India for a grand show, we regrettably announce the transition of the main event to an online format.
This year, the Indian elections take place in seven phases starting with Phase 1 on April 19 and ending with Phase 7 on June 1. The election counting is scheduled to take place on June 4, 2024.
Although the transition to an online event presents its challenges, the Skyesports Masters Main Event will continue as planned, from April 8 to 14, as 8 teams battle it out in the $350,000 tournament. Our talented production team remains dedicated to delivering a top-notch and seamless live show for fans around the world.
Conducting an election means the movement of a massive number of personnel as well as equipment and security forces. As such, hosting an international event during this period becomes extremely difficult. It might have also resulted in the withdrawal of permissions from the security agencies. With International players, and their staff scheduled to arrive in Mumbai, it was always going to be an uphill task.
In the past, mega sports events such as the Indian Premier League hosted matches in Dubai due to clashes with the Lok Sabha elections.
But it will take place Online
The Skyesports Masters 2024 will not take place on LAN in Mumbai as originally planned. However, the event will take place on the same dates online.
For our Indian fans, do not worry, as we will be facilitating the travel and setup of the champion of the Indian Qualifier to Serbia to compete in the main event, ensuring an equitable and fair playing field for the team.
The Indian qualifier team will travel to Serbia to compete against the other teams. With most of the teams playing from Europe, the Indian team would need to play from Serbia to ensure feasible ping and fair playing conditions.
Which teams will take part in Skyesports Masters
Eight teams will take part in the Skyesports Masters 2024. They eight teams are as follows:

- TBD (European Qualifier)
