The first Counter-Strike Major in Asia

The Shanghai Major 2024 is the first Counter-Strike 2 Major in Asia and it is already making its name as a trend-setter. The Major will have a live audience for all three stages of the tournament, giving Counter-Strike fans in the region a chance to witness their favorite teams in action.

Shanghai Counter-Strike Major to have a live audience for all three stages

The Shanghai Major is the next big Valve Counter-Strike tournament. It will feature the best teams from all over the world and takes place over a period of 16 days starting November 30, 2024. With some of the best teams in action, and also the fact that this event is the first Counter-Strike Major in Asia, there is palpable excitement amongst CS fans in the region. Perfect World has gone a step further and announced that they will keep the doors open for fans on all three stages of the event.

Today, we are delighted to announce the two competition venues for the Shanghai Major 2024: The MAJOR OPENING and the MAJOR ELIMINATION will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, while the MAJOR PLAYOFFS will be held at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center. Moreover, all three stages of Major will be open for spectators on site! Let's witness the birth of the Shanghai Major Champions all together!

The announcement also mentioned the venues for two different stages of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. The Major elimination stage will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Meanwhile, the Major Playoffs will be held at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center. The SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center has a capacity of 13,000 spectators while the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center has a capacity of 5,000 people.

The Shanghai Major has a $1.25 million prize pool with $500,000 going to the team that finishes at the top. All eight teams for the Elimination stage will come from Europe. Meanwhile, the Opening Stage Invites will see

  • Six European RMR teams
  • Three Asia-Pacific RMR teams
