MOUZ takes Ancient after dominating T side

The first map started with Team Liquid winning the pistol and the follow-up rounds. Ancient is a relatively T-sided map and the pistol is of utmost importance on this map. Despite winning the pistol, Team Liquid managed to win only seven rounds, allowing MOUZ to climb up to five.

When the teams switched sides, MOUZ won eight T side rounds compared to Team Liquid's one. The complete dominance on the T side was due to MOUZ's excellent read of Team Liquid's defense. MOUZ is one of the top teams on this map and they played their positions to a massive advantage often catching Team Liquid players off-guard.

The second map was Nuke and it was a very one-sided affair for MOUZ. Building on their momentum from the first map, MOUZ continued its dominance through Nuke with a fabulous T-side. Team Liquid managed just four rounds on their CT side in the first half. After the half switch, MOUZ swept Team Liquid with a flawless CT side.

Spinx had an excellent performance on the two maps with 34 frags to his name. On Nuke, Spinx pulled up some excellent performances including an early 1v3 clutch. Twenty One of his 34 frags in the series came on Nuke and he was responsible for MOUZ's excellent and dominant performance on the map.

MOUZ won Nuke with a 13-4 score, effectively securing the series with a rather dominant 2-0 score. With this victory, MOUZ have ensured an invitation to the tournament playoffs. Meanwhile, Team Liquid have one final opportunity to qualify for the ESL Pro league Season 21 playoffs.

MOUZ vs Team Liquid Match preview

MOUZ and Team Liquid received their invites directly in Stage 2 of the ESL Pro League Season 21. The two teams are currently tied at 2-1, needing one more victory to qualify for the playoffs. However, at the same time, a loss does not mean elimination in this tournament as they will have yet another qualifying opportunity in the Round 5.

MOUZ faced off against FURIA and Team Falcons in their opening matches. While they had a 2-1 victory against FURIA, they crushed Team Falcons. Their next match was against Team Vitality, a series that saw them fall 0-2 against the IEM Katowice 2024 winners.

Xertion has been a star performer for the team, top-scoring for the squad on two of three of their ESL Pro League matches. The player has a knack for strategic gameplay and ensuring he is always in an advantageous position during a round. He piggybacks off of his teammates, allowing the team to win rounds and is not afraid to take risky bets when it comes to these matches.

However, MOUZ is not dependent on one player, they have always been an organization that prides on a well-established roster that can distribute frags across the various players. This roster is no different with players such as Xertion, Sphinx, Torzsi stepping up when it matters the most. MOUZ’s match against Team Vitality was a washout, with the team managing only six and seven rounds in each of the two maps.

Team Liquid - staying alive

Team Liquid started their EPL S21 with a loss, losing 1-2 to Team Falcons. They have bounced back in spectacular fashion since then, winning their matches against FURIA and Eternal Fire.

It has been nearly half a year since ultimate joined Team Liquid and he has become a crucial member of the squad. The player has found the confidence to make deep plays, often relying on his skill to secure crucial zones in the map. With several other experienced players on the roster, Team Liquid has potential to surprise some of the favorites in this tournament. Their first hurdle starts with MOUZ. A win here would not only grant them a direct entry into the playoffs, but it would also allow them the crucial few days of rest to gauge their opponents and devise strategies against them.

Liquid’s match against Eternal Fire saw both teams going head to head against each other. The first map of Inferno saw the two teams go the distance of 24 rounds, while Train was a 19-17 victory for Team Liquid. The multiple overtimes on Train was an exciting finish for Team Liquid, but it also highlighted some of the drawbacks on the squad. But the team is improving at a rapid pace with their latest addition, Nertz finding his place on the team.
