chr1zn’s OG continues to impress.

BIG Clan and OG Esports managed to pick up wins in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024. BIG's fiery AWPer Florian "syrsoN" Rische showed his classic online form to power his team's win. Meanwhile Christoffer "Chr1zN" Storgaard's OG continues to impress as the team took a dominant win over AMKAL, including a 13-0 on Vertigo.

syrsoN masterclass knocks out GamerLegion

BIG brought syrsoN back into their roster to join Karim "Krimbo" Moussa's emergent star power. But the AWPer's return has been less than perfect. In LAN events over the last six months, he has averaged a mere 0.97 rating. Luckily, syrsoN brought out his classic online form and topped the server charts to eliminate GamerLegion from the Fall Showdown 2024.

Map Veto - BIG vs GamerLegion - BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024

  1. GamerLegion removed Ancient
  2. BIG removed Anubis
  3. GamerLegion picked Mirage
  4. BIG picked Nuke
  5. GamerLegion removed Vertigo
  6. BIG removed Inferno
  7. Dust2 was left over

GamerLegion's pick of Mirage showed Erik "ztr" Gustafsson's talent at the IGL role. GL started with a pistol round win, and after an initial anti-force loss, they never looked back. Seven rounds in a row, Andreas "aNdu" Maasing led the charge breaking into bombsite regularly. BIG finally picked up a five round streak across the halftime break, but GL's gun rounds took CT control to close the map out 13-6.

Switching to Nuke, krimbo and syrsoN turned up their levels to 11. The AWPer in particular was stellar, averaging a kill in every single round. While GL started with a pistol win, and picked up a couple of rounds across the half, but BIG's stars put in some massive plays to help the team lock in a 13-7 win.

Dust2's first half was the closest in the series, with GamerLegion starting off their CT side strong. But that initial traction gave way to BIG's attack towards the end of the half. Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz's team managed to carry that momentum into the second half, and the CT-side went flawless once again to close the series out 2-1.

OG dominate AMKAL despite OT loss on Dust2

Losing Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko was a massive blow to OG's firepower, but the team had deeper rooted issues in their roster. Key amongst them was the lack of a true In-Game Leader. That's where the signing of Christoffer "Chr1zN" Storgaard has been so crucial. The Danish leader is another product of the MOUZ NXT programme that has provided MOUZ with a World #1 potential roster, and has given OG themselves the Belgian rifler, Bram "Nexius" Campana. While OG is still a few steps away from a consistent tier 1 return, this new direction is promising.

The match started on Dust2, with OG's T-side picking up the first gun rounds. But from Round 7, the Russian side put together five rounds in a row to close the half with a lead. Switching sides, OG's own CT side followed suit, trading rounds early, and putting up a defensive wall to take match point. But AMKAL managed to force Overtime. Back and forth the two teams went, but a single OT was not enough. In the second Overtime, however, AMKAL finally managed to pick up two T-side rounds to close out the map 19-17.

The following map were completely dominant for the OG side. F1KU was the star of the show on Vertigo, as OG annihilated the AMKAL attack throughout the half. Engenii "topo" Lopatin, was the only one putting up any resistance, but OG took a dominant 13-0 win. Inferno was slightly better, but a 9-3 half for OG was too powerful, allowing for a 13-6 win.

OG one step away from Copenhagen

After that win, OG is just one match win away from completing the Fall Showdown 2024 journey. They await their opponent from the paiN-FaZe matchup. OG will hope it's paiN putting together an upset performance, because FaZe may have struggle against the top teams, but they are still highly capable.

Meanwhile for BIG, Fall Showdown 2024 has only just started. They will now face, a surprisingly familiar opponent in Virtus.Pro. Both teams favor Dust2, and with syrsoN's form that will be a series to watch.
