G2 vs NAVI Preview
G2 and NAVI are both 2-1 in the Group stage 2 of the ESL Pro League Season 21. Both the teams are full of firepower and the experience on each roster makes up for any shortcomings. G2 won their matches against paiN Gaming and SAW. Meanwhile, NAVI’s victory was up against paiN and TYLOO, while losing to SAW. G2’s only loss came against The MongolZ, who have already qualified for the playoffs at the time of writing.
G2 added HeavyGod earlier this year, with the youngster having heavy shoes to fill. Replacing NiKo, albeit not in the same role on the roster, HeavyGod has struggled to help the squad achieve similar results as last year. So far this year, G2 have finished top four at the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and in the 9-12th place at the IEM Katowice 2025. The team’s performance at IEM Katowice is a testimony of their current performance as the Poland event had most of the top teams in attendance.
NAVI - Consistent but not enough
Meanwhile, NAVI have been very consistent right from the start of the year. They have consistently secured top four placements at both BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 as well as IEM Katowice 2025. Their loss at IEM Katowice 2025 was against Team Spirit, one of the top teams in the scene right now.
NAVI had a slow start to ESL Pro League as they started with a 1-2 loss to SAW, losing on Nuke and Ancient. They started strong on Inferno with a 13-3 score, but their inability to control the SAW T-side aggression led to their downfall. While Nuke saw NAVI manage just three rounds (including a pistol) on their CT side, They did not win a single CT round on Ancient.
The squad bounced back in their subsequent matches against paiN and TYLOO. The win against paiN was a strenuous 2-0 victory as paiN gave NAVI a run for their money. TYLOO won on Inferno, however, it is one of their strongest maps with the team’s set strats enabling them to a huge advantage on repeated rounds. NAVI are now one victory away from the playoffs.

G2 - HeavyGod and mONESY
Meanwhile, G2 esports has seen HeavyGod step in several clutch situations. The player’s awareness of his surroundings allows him to play to his positional advantage. In their match against TheMongolZ, despite being on the losing side, there were several moments of brilliance by the youngster and newest addition to the team.
The win condition for G2 esports will remain mONESY, the youngster who has been one of the best performing players in Counter-Strike in 2024. If he steps up, G2 could potentially pose a challenge to even win ESL Pro League. However, even if they don’t win the event, they can upset some of the more established teams in this event.
MONESY has had a 1.58 rating over seven maps in this tournament. He is the second best performer after donk and has been instrumental in G2’s performance so far. It will be interesting to see how far G2 progresses in this tournament with or without a mONESY in top form.
