The Polish legend joins G2 in an unexpected move.

After the recently announced departure of Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, the international squad has picked up a bizarre new leader. G2 Esports have announced the signing of Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski as their in-game leader (IGL). Interestingly enough, the move has some similarities to the HooXi signing itself.

Snax as G2's IGL?

Following the success at IEM Dallas, many expected Nikola "NiKo" Kovač to take up the leadership duties full time. And the subsequent benching of HooXi boosted it significantly. G2, however, have gone a different route. Former Virtus.Pro rifler and GamerLegion leader Snax has been brought in to lead G2. Much like HooXi's signing in 2022, this is based on his performances in Tier 2 with GL.

Unlike HooXi's miracle at Antwerp, Snax's best results have been top 12 at Katowice and in the opening stage of the major. That puts his signing as a bizarre move, based largely on his past reputation as the star in VP. Subsequent stand-in stints with the likes of ENCE have been promising, but as an IGL, he hasn't shown much to set himself apart from others.

So is it just a comfortable pick for Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas?

Massive roles clashes on all maps!

Snax's signing alongside Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa puts G2's role balance into question. Stats wizard and HLTV writer Harry "NER0" Richards took to social media following the announcement to share his analysis. According to his data, G2 is facing a roles clash on every single one of the seven maps in the current pool. While Snax is known to be versatile, this might become an impossible equation for him to solve alone. Expect to see Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač take a step back in his roles.

In any case, this looks like a move nobody can predict the success of. Rumors previously pointed to Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy, and that roster made sense on paper. One of the best anchors in the game replacing Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, nearly role for role. But now, everything is up in the air. Only G2 knows how they'll make this work with just two weeks until the Esports World Cup.

Community reactions to G2 Snax

The community has been largely perplexed by Snax's addition. With role confusion, lack of Tier 1 experience as an IGL, many are skeptical on G2's future.
