G2 will next play at the Esports World Cup.

G2 Esports have announced a new entry to their Counter-Strike roster. Joining the squad is 21-year-old Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa. He has big shoes to fill as he takes the spot opened up by Nemanja "nexa" Isaković’s departure from the squad.

MalbsMd joins G2 esports Counter-Strike

MalbsMd was part of M80 esports before joining G2 esports today. The youngster has had an impressive past few months with some jaw-dropping statistics. This is his first time playing on a top-tier team, of G2’s caliber and it will be interesting to see how he performs at the highest level.

With an impressive 1.34 rating and a 0.85 Kills Per round statistic, he has been one of the better players on the scene recently. He also has a nearly 65% headshot percentage, which is impressive considering his peers.

On June 18, 2024, M80 revealed that they parted ways with the player as he was acquired by an unnamed organization. MalbsMd has been with M80 since July last year and has been instrumental in the team’s performance over the past few months. Together, MalbsMd and M80 won the Mythic Cup. They also secured the top spot at the IEM Chengdu 2024 NA qualifier.

Unfortunately, they could not secure a top-tier placement in the PGL Copenhagen Major qualifier. They were just outside the top 5 - which was the requirement for teams to secure their spot at the Major.

G2 Esports parted ways with Nexa soon after the BLAST Premier Spring Finals. The team finished 7-8th at the Spring Finals, which was also due to one of their star players, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov failing to secure his visa on time. While he did rush on to play one game, it wasn’t enough as G2 Esports bowed out. G2 will next play at the Esports World Cup, even as the players are in the midst of a player break.

With this change, G2 Esports' Counter-Strike roster is as follows:

  • Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
  • Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač
  • Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov
  • Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen
  • Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
