FlyQuest bench dexter after ESL Pro League exit

Australian squad FlyQuest have made a second roster change for the season, dropping in-game leader Christopher "dexter" Nong to the bench as the team moves "in a new direction" today.

Dexter was a founding member of the revamped FlyQuest roster, which went international late last year after AWPer Alistair "aliStair" Johnston was dropped for Romanian Iulian "regali" Harjău.

FlyQuest announced dexter's benching on March 13 via X/Twitter. The 30-year-old remains benched, with a replacement not yet named by the org.

"After evaluating our start to the 2025 season, we’ve decided to move dexter to the bench as we take the team in a new direction," the statement read. Dexter posted his own statement shortly after, thanking his teammates and the org for the opportunity, but also citing "outside factors" that affected the team as the season kicked off.

"There was simply too many outside factors in the team to making the start of the year how we wanted as a team," dexter said. "[I'm] going to be looking after myself physically more for the first time being until I find a new home, but the last few weeks of losses has made my mental stronger than it has ever been, and I'm always appreciative of that."

The losses dexter refers to include those FlyQuest suffered at PGL Cluj-Napoca and ESL Pro League Season 21. The Aussie outfit was dispatched in Romania with ease; the squad failing to look competitive in their three matches against Falcons, BIG, and SAW.

At EPL, FlyQuest posted their first wins in almost a month against Lynn Vision and paiN, but were thwarted at the finish line in stage one against fellow APAC contenders TYLOO. Before that, FlyQuest made an immediate exit at IEM Katowice and were eliminated by Spirit in the BLAST Bounty Spring Qualifier.

FlyQuest has not announced a new fifth yet. It's likely to be an IGL replacement unless an existing player picks up the role. Joshua "INS" Potter has captained the team in the past, but with the likes of Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek or Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen available and FlyQuest willing to look outside of Oceania for players, it's possible the Aussie core of the squad remains at three players.
