A lot of CS2 players are unhappy with the state of the game.
CS2's Steam review score has gone from "Very Positive" to "Mostly Positive" this week, in the aftermath of the controversial The Armory update.
Valve made important tweaks to CS2's animation and networking in The Armory update on Oct. 2, but many players are not seeing anything apart from all the new skins and gun charms added to the game.
Although these new cosmetics have brought flair to the game, you must purchase multiple Battle Passes to unlock everything. On top of that, these new items are making players experience FPS drops.
What do the recent CS2 negative reviews say?
A lot of recent reviews seem to touch on the same notes: that Valve is trying to earn money off skins without improving CS2's gameplay.
"A year has passed, Armory update is a cash grab with no real gameplay value," a player with over 1,600 hours played between CS:GO and CS2 wrote on Steam. "VAC nowhere to be found, no new maps, the CS:GO community has been wiped off the face of the earth. Disgusting company."
"The recent Armor Pass upgrade is a sham, we're waiting for new content, get an update but still get disappointed," another player with over 2,000 hours of playtime wrote. "The fixes to the inconsistent character animations are appreciated, but besides that you don't get any real value from this update. You can buy a glorified Battle Pass that costs you 16€ to earn points to allow you to again GAMBLE for skins, like you're opening chests, to have a chance to get something decent. Once all the 40 points you get for the Armor Pass are used up, you'll have to buy a new one, in case you didn't get the skin you wanted, tough luck!"

What Valve has done after CS2's The Armory update?
Valve has done little, thus far, to put out the fire caused by The Armory update. The developer said it pushed "various stability fixes" on Oct. 4, but players are still experiencing FPS drops.
Most notably, the developer diminished the points players get from knife and utility damage in Casual, Competitive, and Wingman to prevent them from farming EXP faster.
The CS2 community is still waiting for more robust changes in the coming weeks as a response to all the negative reviews. Until then, players will likely keep complaining on Reddit and writing negative reviews on Steam to drop CS2's score even further.
