Here’s what’s new in August. Sadly, Danger Zone’s future might be in Danger.

Valve has released a new Counter-Strike 2 update that brings some gameplay changes as well as UI improvements and map changes. Here’s all that’s new in the August 9 Counter-Strike 2 update.

The new update mostly focuses on allowing users to vote for a level change in various game modes. Casual game modes, such as deathmatch and arms race, allow for a level change vote at the end of the match or in the first round of a new match. Other changes include minor improvements to the UI and quality of life changes. Two community maps, Mills and Assembly, have been updated to the latest version in the Community Workshop.

Players Floating

In a weird bug after the update, players can float after the latest update.

While floating, players are still accurate and can lead to some very one-sided matches. As seen in the video, one player can jump on another player and can jump again to float high up in the air.

We expect this bug to be fixed very soon, although players are sure to be having some fun till the time they can float on the map.

Over on the esports side, IEM Cologne is currently underway with some of the best teams in action. The top teams from over the world are competing in Cologne as the winner receives an invitation to IEM Katowice 2025 as well as BLAST Premier World Finals 2024. Despite releasing regular game updates, it seems Danger Zone is no longer a priority for Valve in Counter-Strike 2.

According to some sources, there simply were not enough players in Danger Zone that would justify Valve allocating resources and developer time to the project.
