Team Falcons and M80 had quite a tense match at CS2 BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024. One team left the tournament.

Most experts considered Team Falcons favorites in the opening match at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024. M80 are significantly less experienced players, and the team has recent changes in the roster. It turned out, this opinion was correct — but the level of play M80 demonstrated during the match, made Team Falcons’ fans somewhat nervous. This was an excellent Counter-Strike, and here are all the details.

A pre-match Interview with Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer

Before the match Team Falcons vs M80 started at CS2 BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024, the official interviewer James Banks asked Snappi from Falcons a few questions. It’s interesting to know how confident the team is before this tournament.

“I don’t want to get overconfident. I think we need to prove something before we can sit here and say we are favorites to go through. I do believe that we can win three matches and go to the Finals.”

Snappi

As for playing against M80, Snappi was also pretty cautious. But he still expressed the intention to win this match.

“They are a good team, they have a good structure — when you look at their games. But obviously, we would be very disappointed if we lose, because we have the ambition to beat a team like M80. But we are not in the position to sit here and say we can beat anyone. We need to show off and try our hardest.”

A post-match interview with Elias "s1n" Stein

M80 looked surprisingly good during their match against Team Falcons. They lost alright, but their team skills were remarkable. In an interview for James Banks on the official stream, s1n, the team captain, talked a bit about their experience at this tournament.

“BLAST is always nice. I know from my previous teams that Showdowns are like important games, but it’s more casual vibes. It's a good feeling for us, like we can beat all these teams; it’s a boost of confidence. Then you rewatch these games, and ‘wow, how could we close this’. But overall, we just use this time here in the UK [...] as a boot camp together and some EU practice.”

Team Falcons 2:0 M80

Both teams had good moments, and M80 did not look like an easy victim. Still, the general experience of the Team Falcons players and their personal skills are a significant power. They performed a great comeback in game 1 and then did not let the opponents do the same in game 2.

Game and map
Score
Game 1, Ancient (M80 pick)Team Falcons 13:9 M80
Game 1, Dust2 (Team Falcons pick)Team Falcons 16:14 M80

Game 1

Team Falcons won a couple of starting rounds, and then it was time for M80 to shine. On the T side, they got themselves an advantage on Ancient and felt confident at the end of the first half. But then, the side switch ruined everything. Team Falcons recovered from that shaky period and showed their true class with that comeback.

Dust 2

The start of game 2 was totally one-sided. Team Falcons were mercilessly destroying M80 until they reached 6:0 — and then the opponent struck back. The rest of the first half was one-sided as well, but for M80. They proved to be good at CT and went for a break with 6:0.

In the second half, M8 played amazingly! They took the game to overtime, and their win here looked pretty real. Still, it felt like they somewhat lost their round structure at the end. Team Falcons won 16:14.

Who are M80?

It’s an American CS2 team. They finished 2nd at Ace North American Masters Fall 2024 and participated at Fall Showdown instead of the winner, NRG.

Another prominent result for M80 is victory at the B-tier tournament ESL Challenger League Season 47: North America.

With the performance the players demonstrated on Dust2, we certainly should keep an eye on M80.
