Chess Choco Cookie is a new unit you can unlock in Cookie Run: Kingdom with a unique mechanic to consider for your build. They are actually two cookies in one, as they are twins working together. Unlike other units, you need to cast their abilities twice to get the full effect. This can be tricky to use, as you will be forced to build more cooldown reduction.  On top of that, Chess Choco Cookie’s ability gets a slight boost when facing World Exploration bosses. This makes them a viable pick in World Exploration, but only against stages with bosses.

To maximize his potential, you will need the right setup for him. In this Cookie Run Kingdom guide, let’s discuss the best Chess Choco Cookie build, including our recommended toppings, Beascuit, treasures, and team compositions.

  • White Rook DMG: x4 hits over 0.6 sec, 159.5% of ATK per hit
  • Black Bishop DMG: x3 hits over 0.9 sec, 209.4% of ATK per hit
  • Chessboard Single-hit DMG: 358.6% of ATK
  • Rook's Blessing: ATK +15.0%, DMG Resist +20.0% for 10 sec; stacks up to x1
  • Bishop's Judgment: taken DMG +15.0%, ATK SPD -25.0% for 12 sec; stacks up to x1
  • White Rook: DEF -15.0% until the end of battle; stacks up to x1
  • Black Bishop: ATK -20.0% until the end of battle; stacks up to x1

  • Triggers when White Rook and Black Bishop are applied simultaneously after their duration is over

Due to their unique mechanic of needing to cast their abilities twice for the Chekmate effect to activate, you need cooldown reduction. However, you can also add a bit of DMG resist for survivability or ATK for more damage.

Here is a quick rundown on our recommended stats on Toppings and Beascuit:

  • Combo: 5x Swift Chocolate with Swift Chocolate Tart
  • Substats: Cooldown, ATK, DMG Resist

Chess Choco Cookie is very hard to work with in a team. We can say that their unique mechanics are holding them back. Your goal is to activate the Checkmate effect for the team buffs and World Exploration boss debuffs. To do this, you need to cast their abilities twice, which have a pretty long base cooldown. This is why you aim for as many Cooldown stats as you can possibly get.

Cookies like Linzer Cookie offer the same benefits but are more consistent and more accessible. That said, future content may add more value to this cookie.

For team compositions, Chess Choco Cookie can work with any lineup. The twins serve as a support and sub-DPS. Cookies with good burst damage are perfect picks that can capitalize on the DEF reduction effect from Checkmate.

Here are some good team compositions you can try for Chess Choco Cookie:

  • Team 1: Awakened Pure Vanilla, Chess Choco, Eternal Sugar, Silent Salt, Awakened Hollyberry 
  • Team 2: Fire Spirit, Eternal Sugar, Awakened White Lily, Chess Choco, Rebel Cookie

You can always mix and match the lineup based on the content you are playing. Eternal Sugar Cookie has one of the strongest burst damages as a Bomber-type. Awakened Pure Vanilla Cookie is a safe pick if you need a healer. Silent Salt Cookie can silence enemies or vacuum enemies in one area. Despite being an Assassin-type, he is quite durable and can take a few hits.

Awakened Hollyberry is your go-to tank as she can share the damage received by her allies. On top of that, her Steel-type damage buff is also helpful if you are running a Steel element lineup. Fire Spirit Cookie has a massive AoE damage that can help clear waves of enemy fodder. Awakened White Lily Cookie is a good option due to its healing effect. On top of that, you can also use her when running a Grass element lineup.

As for the best treasures to use, it will depend on what your team needs. Most of the time, you will be focusing on adding more damage. To help you with that, go for Old Pilgrim's Scroll for ATK boost, Unyielding Berry Necklace for stacking effects, and Jelly Watch for massive cooldown.

Sometimes, exploration stages can be hard. You can swap out some of the treasures with Dream Conductor's Whistle for extra DMG Resist. Another good option is the low-tier Disciple's Magic Scroll, which includes a DEF increase. However, you should not remove the Jelly Watch as it is needed for the extra cooldown reduction.
