MAAC Esports week four honorable mentions
Siena College vs. Niagara University (SSBU) Feb. 7, 7 p.m. EST.*
While two underdogs battle it out on the mainstream, the frontrunner Siena College (3-0) dukes it out against Niagara University (2-1). Niagara is coming off a tough 9-17 rivalry loss to Quinnipiac University last week while Siena College continues their dominant path after a 23-5 victory against Fairfield University. Siena has also taken a 14-12 win against Quinnipiac to start off their season and a 29-4 win the last time Niagara faced off against them in the Fall. Based on results, Siena should feel comfortable heading into this match but the Purple Eagles of Niagara are looking to snatch this series away from the Saints in what shall be an absolute brawl.

Quinnipiac University vs. Marist College (SSBU) Feb. 7, 7 p.m. EST.*
With a chance to prove themselves, Marist College (2-2) matches up against Quinnipiac University (3-1) in what can be a crucial turning point for either school. Marist have only earned wins against the two bottom teams in the conference currently while Quinnipiac’s only loss was against the current standings frontrunner Siena. Quinnipiac looks to continue their dominance from the Fall after going undefeated while Marist aims for revenge after a tough 3-26 loss the last time these teams faced off in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The winner of this matchup can look to use this win as momentum heading into the second half of the Spring season.
Fairfield University vs. Marist College (OW2) Feb 8, 7 p.m. EST.*
Marist College looks to continue to be one of the two remaining undefeated teams with records of (4-0). However, they are met with a tough Fairfield University squad currently sitting at a record of (3-1). Fairfield’s only loss so far came in week one from Iona University, a team that took Marist to five maps.
Both teams look to continue their win streaks but only one can prevail. With a double header week in sight for week 5, a win for either of these teams can set a nice buffer between them and other conference schools in the standings.
Mount St. Mary’s University vs Iona University (OW2) Feb. 8, 7 p.m. EST.*
While one of the two undefeated teams looks to continue their streak against Fairfield, the other faces an even tougher task in Iona University. Mount St. Mary’s (4-0) has their work cut out for them as they face up against a (3-1) Iona team. Iona going the distance but falling short against Marist College is the only loss currently on the record sheet for this squad.
Mount St. Mary’s, although undefeated which is an amazing accomplishment so far this season, has only picked up wins against teams currently at or below .500 winning percentage in the MAAC Esports standings. This will be a major test for this team right at the middle of the season. If Mount St. Mary’s is able to pull off another win and keep their streak alive, the Mountaineers look scary for any team heading into the second half of the Spring MAAC OW2 season.
