“Partnering with Polymarket allows us to integrate prediction markets as a new fan engagement format and position MLS as an early leader among global soccer properties.”
Major League Soccer (MLS) has teamed up with Polymarket as the official prediction market partner for MLS and Leagues Cup.
MLS and Polymarket partnership
On Jan. 26, the commercial arm of MLS, also known as Soccer United Marketing (SUM), announced a multi-year partnership with Polymarket. As an official prediction market partner, Polymarket will help develop digital fan experiences for MLS and Leagues Cup to enhance engagement during live matches and on second screens, much like online casino platforms that create interactive experiences for users.
According to Shayne Coplan, the founder and CEO of Polymarket, as soccer's audience grows and evolves in the United States, fans are seeking new ways to engage with the game.
"Through our partnership with MLS and Leagues Cup, we can surface real-time collective sentiment around key moments, matches, and season-long storylines, giving fans a more interactive, data-driven way to experience the game and engage with the world’s most popular sport," he added.
MLS builds on soccer momentum and 2026 FIFA World Cup
Gary Stevenson, the MLS deputy commissioner and president of SUM, shared his thoughts on the partnership as well.
“As MLS continues to grow, innovation remains central to how we engage fans and evolve the league," he said. “Partnering with Polymarket allows us to integrate prediction markets as a new fan engagement format and position MLS as an early leader among global soccer properties.”
The official announcement also noted that the partnership includes safeguards to protect MLS and Leagues Cup match integrity through independent monitoring. It added that MLS and Leagues Cup will capitalize on growing soccer momentum and the 2026 FIFA World Cup to expand fan engagement.
