The eyes of the Battlefield faithful turned to Electronic Arts reveal for the franchise’s next title on July 31. The developers showed off the return to the class system and some of the guns that would be released. Alongside this, the long-awaited homecoming for all-out destruction was announced. Going deeper into the new game, they revealed a plethora of maps and modes coming with the release.

In total, they revealed 9 maps coming with the release of Battlefield 6. The list of maps is:

  • Liberation Peak
  • Manhattan Bridge
  • Siege of Cairo
  • Saints Quarter
  • Empire State

Having shown off a few of the maps during the showcase, the return of Operation Firestorm was a very big moment. Following up on that, the game will also have a total of 8 modes, many of which we have seen throughout the franchise's history.

  • Conquest – Two teams battle it out across a sprawling map, with tanks, jets, helicopters, close-quarter combat, snipers, and all-out warfare.
  • Rush – One side is on attack, and the other is on defence. Attackers need to arm a bomb, while the defenders need to stop them. Played in multiple sectors of a map until attackers win or run out of lives.
  • Breakthrough – Almost the same as Rush, but where one team must capture all points at the same time to claim victory.
  • Squad Deathmatch – Four squads fighting it out for dominance.
  • Team Deathmatch – Teams fight against one another, where kills are the main objective.
  • Domination – No tanks, no helicopters, no jets. Just straight up infantry warfare.
  • King of the Hill – It’s every man for themselves, as you fight for a singular control point to take the win.
  • Escalation – Two teams fight it out for control, where the final points will bring the entire battle to a single area.

Portal will be a returning feature, where players will be able to find a playlist of featured modes and a server browser. However, a new feature coming will include a map editor, which is a huge addition to the game. On paper, Battlefield 6’s maps and modes look fantastic, but it remains to be seen what will happen on launch.
