Wxltzy opens up on Falcons’ struggles: “Internal issues stopped us from improving”

Ben “Wxltzy” Walton has confirmed internal struggles within Team Falcons that led to Zer0’s benching, with ImperialHal now set to lead as IGL.

Ben “Wxltzy” Walton has broken his silence on the turmoil within Team Falcons’ Apex Legends roster, confirming long-rumored internal issues that ultimately led to the benching of in-game leader Rhys “Zer0” Perry. His comments came shortly after the roster’s final series together in the ALGS Split 2 Pro League Americas.

Ahead of their ALGS Split 2 Pro League Americas Week 3 matches on Sept. 13 and 14, Team Falcons revealed that they would be moving Zer0 to the bench and that Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen would be promoted to IGL of their Apex Legends roster. Yet, Zer0 still ended up playing over the weekend, in what would be the roster's last hurrah.

Team Falcons endure a mixed final performance

In the first three weeks of the Pro League Americas, Team Falcons have struggled. In Week 1, they placed 10th, only reaching a top 3 placement in one of the six games. In Week 2 they finished 15th, with only 23 points from six games.

For their final appearance together on Sept. 14, Team Falcons finished 2nd place with a thunderous game 5 win with 11 kills and 23 points.

As Zer0's time on the roster comes to an end, Team Falcons finds themselves in 4th place in the ALGS Pro League Americas with 3 rounds left. Definitely not the worst scenario, but just a reminder of the missed opportunity that many felt this team has endured.

Wxltzy: "Internal issues constantly stopped us from improving"

"Pretty disappointing way to finish with this team. We have had the best year of any team so far without ever reaching our peak. Too many internal issues constantly stopped us from improving," said Wxltzy.

"Happy with what we achieved in the time we were together and definitely wish it didnt go this route. In saying that I'm excited for the future with Hal as IGL and wish Zer0 the best with his new roster."

Not only did Falcons' Wxltzy seemingly confirm tensions that both ImperialHal and Zer0 had cryptically hinted at through their recent social media posts, but he also added more fuel to hopes for Zer0 to lead or compete for another organization.

What next for Team Falcons?

Team Falcons' next ALGS Pro League match is on Sept. 29, by which point they will have announced their new third player. Meanwhile, Zer0 has yet to share where he will be playing.

The next chapter in the ImperialHal vs Zer0 story is about to begin.
