iiTzTimmy is reborn in Sapporo, newly signed to 100 Thieves and now also IGLing his roster.

iiTzTimmy has managed to successfully reinvent himself in Apex Legends. From content creator to competitor, Timmy is now considered among the standout competitors in Apex Legends esports.

In Sapporo, iiTzTimmy is playing with the full backing of 100 Thieves, who re-entered Apex Legends competitive to build a team around him. That led him to a reunion with Dezignful, alongside Genburten. In Sapporo, 100 Thieves have looked very good, even despite Visas issues interrupting their BLGS and therefore hindering their pre-event preparation.

esports.gg spoke to iiTzTimmy during the Group Stage of the ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan. You can watch the full interview below:

Timmy says Dezignful is "chill" outside of game

Dezignful, who Timmy is back competing alongside, certainly has a distinct reputation as a competitor. The rant that included "Get comfortable being uncomfortable" became best selling merchandise, and Dezignful always wears his heart on his sleeve.

The question is with any reunion, is it business as usual or is there a different vibe between iiTzTimmy and Dezignful and what is he like out of game?

"(smirking) [The reunion] was terrible, it was genuinely terrible, not gonna lie! But honestly, I love the guy. I think he's a really great dude outside of the game. You know, vibes well, very funny, very chill. I know it's kind of opposite because his online persona is literally rager toxic and all that stuff.

"But I will say he has done a really good job at listening and kind of rebuilding because, I was his co-IGL at first, and then I learned from him kind of how to play that style of like his IGLing. Then I went to Moist and learned from Wxltzy.

"I kind of just took both of the type of styles in, while also obviously watching other teams, and building my own IGL style. So then him trying to be accustomed to that, I'm learning at the end of the day.

"It's going to be hard when you're a leader yourself and you're watching somebody just run into a fire over and over and over. But it was the steps that needed to be taken. And once it got to the point where it was a good, I would say, 80% and he started to really trust it. I felt the energy and we've been doing really well."

Timmy stepping up to IGL

This LAN has been the culmination of a journey for iiTzTimmy to re-learn the position of IGL. He has previously been an in-game leader in Apex Legends, but has not assumed that role since the early days of the game. Why was now the time for Timmy to switch roles?

"The main reason why I wanted to do IGLing is, I don't know, I just felt like I always had the play. I always knew how to just win it. And it's always getting to those steps to win was the difficult part. I just didn't know the rotations or the steps to get to that game winning spot. But when I got to the final zone, I felt like I just knew. So that's why I always wanted to be the IGL.

"I just feel like I have really good plays, I'm always willing to learn and try new things when I feel like some people are just a little too textbook. Like, oh we gotta play here, we gotta wait here, you know. It's like, no, why don't we try to play outside and see if we can get an extra couple kills. Oh, we died. Oh, that's my bad guys. But at least we know, you know what I mean?

"I just felt like I really wanted this role, especially when I was playing on Team Moist, because when I was playing Crypto I felt like I was just leading the team just as much as Wxltzy who was in moments because I was literally like a surveillance drone from the sky. I just knew when playing in my next team, I wanted to be like the voice because I felt like I have the strengths to do it."

100 Thieves building around iiTzTimmy

100 Thieves left competitive Apex Legends after the Year 3 Championship, having failed to make the ALGS partner programme. For a brief period, iiTzTimmy was signed to both 100 Thieves and Disguised, then Moist Esports, so he could compete. Now, they have decided to re-enter the ALGS in full. For Timmy, this is a huge show of faith from 100T.

" It's been awesome, you know, before they had a team and they eventually dropped out. And every single time I played with the Dojo, I immediately went to them first. I was like "yo, what's up?"  it was just never the right moment or right time for them, and that's all good. I was totally okay with being Org-less and then eventually getting signed with other Orgs. They were really supportive for that.

"But once they were like, okay, we're getting back in Apex. Timmy, we want to build a team around you. Let's see what you can do. It just felt like the Org that has been supporting me as a content creator is really trusting me.

"As a content creator, you're doing your own thing, and it's kind of like a partnership. It doesn't really always feel like connected, but when you're a competitor, it genuinely feels like, okay, like, we're a team, you trust me, to find success in what I'm doing, and also lead the 100 Thieves name, so really cool."
