As season 13 of Apex Legends comes to a close, we take a look at the changes in season 14 that will shape the weapon meta.
With both casuals and pros alike chomping at the bit for the onset of a new season, some serious weapon changes will help to dictate the Apex Legends weapon meta. The new legend Vantage is a sniper specialist and some of the weapon changes strongly suggest that there will be a much heavier emphasis on mid to long range fighting this season.
Care package changes
One of the first pieces of evidence towards a longer range weapon meta is the return of the g7. A fan favorite for years, the g7 has been tucked away in the care package since season 11. Both the g7 and the Volt will be removed from the care package. They will be replaced by the Bocek Bow and the Rampage. Both of which will see DPS increased from 60 to 70 and from 26 to 28, respectively. The g7 on the floor ensures that many legends will be taking their time from a distance and fighting from the edge of POI's rather than pushing directly into fights.
Returning hop-ups in season 14
Apex weapon meta is something that can be affected by the availability of certain hop-ups. Double tap is a some-what divisive hop-up that is used more on the EVA-8 than the g7. Double tap paired with buffs to rate of fire and recoil for the EVA-8 will likely make it this season's most popular shotgun. Skullpiercer returning will absolutely shift loadouts towards longer range weapons. Headshot damage will be increased to 35% for all 3 Skullpiercer compatible weapons. The Longbow and Wingman have previously used the hop-up. However, this will be the first season it will be used on the 30-30. Some pros think this could cause the 30-30 to be "broken" and foresee nerfs to the weapon on the horizon

Weapon crafting rotations that will affect Apex weapon meta
The Car smg and Wingman will be removed from the crafter. Replacing them are the devotion and RE-45 (hammerpoints included). Two very popular weapons returning to floor loot is bound to mix things up for the early game fights.
Legends can also count on teammates for crafting materials. Whenever a teammate interacts with a materials harvester, their teammates will acquire the materials as well. This could put a heavier emphasis on crafting and entice players to craft earlier.
Other notable season 14 weapon changes
The two most notable weapon changes come in the form of ammunition changes. The Spitfire will now use light ammo and attachments and the Wingman will swap heavy for Sniper ammo and attachments. Since the Wingman is getting Skullpiercer, and the Spitfire has acquired light ammo and attachments, there may be an uptick in both of their uses. Remaining consistent with the buffing of mid to long range weapons, the Sentinel is getting a slight buff. Deadeye's Tempo will be added into the base weapon rather than a required hop-up.
