Gild joins Team Falcons, ImperialHal criticizes ALGS for breaking news

Zachary “Gild” Dennis has officially joined Team Falcons as their new third, replacing Zer0. The move sparked controversy after ALGS broke the news before the org’s announcement.

Zachary "Gild" Dennis is officially Team Falcons Apex's new third player, filling the spot vacated by former IGL Rhys "Zer0" Perry.

The news broke via the PlayApex Esports account on X, even before the Team Falcons org themselves tweeted the news. Team Falcons' new IGL ImperialHal voiced his disapproval. Yet, the overriding opinion of the community was that Team Falcons were too slow on the reveal.

Gild joins Team Falcons as new third

Gild has been competing in the ALGS professional scene for over 4 years, and has been a reliable and flexible player. He is best known for his time on NRG, who he played for from 2022 to 2023 and from 2024 to 2025. During his first stint at NRG, his standout performance was 2nd place at the ALGS 2023 Split 1 Playoffs in London, England.

Over his career, Gild has finished top 4 at three separate ALGS LAN events with three separate teams; Team Liquid, NRG and Moist Esports. Gild is widely respected by his peers as a team player, and can flex between aggressive and passive/utility legends to fit the needs of his team. What is more, Gild has already alongside Wxltzy during their time together at Moist Esports.

NRG released their Apex Legends roster on Aug. 9, 2025. Their last competitive appearance was at the Mid-Season Invitational at the Esports World Cup 2025 where they placed 21st.

Controversy over who broke the news

The PlayApex Esports Twitter account has taken on an even more active role recently in sharing news about the competitive Apex scene compared to the past. While it has typically stuck to match clips and announcements, on Sept. 15 it "broke" the news of Gild joining Team Falcons. However, it was not well received by ImperialHal, the new IGL of Team Falcons.

"When ALGS has the audacity to tweet this before our own org even makes an announcement , cool"

ImperialHal on ALGS breaking Gild to Team Falcons news

His sentiment was echoed by Sweet, who was Gild's former team-mate at NRG.

"Apex won’t even let the orgs who still have a team get the hype of announcing their own players, brutal," said Sweet.

As part of the process to initiate a roster change, ALGS Pro League orgs must register any new additions on Battlefy in order to compete. Team Falcons does not currently have an ALGS Year 5 roster page on Battlefy as they did for Year 4. Yet, the data for Year 5 is fed into the official ALGS website, which displays Gild as a member of Team Falcons.

"The majority of the public doesn't sit on Battlefy to see roster changes being made, yes some people will see it etc. Also we were never told that if a change is made on Battlefy ALGS is capable of tweeting it either," added ImperialHal in response to user kawstuh who said Team Falcons dropped the ball.

ImperialHal had confirmed on X that the new 3rd would be announced on the morning of Sept. 16.

The delay he said was due to a graphical error and the inevitable timezone difference with the social media team of Team Falcons. Team Falcons played their last Pro League match with Zer0 on Sept. 14.

"[...] We shouldn’t be working against each other in this matter, it’s easy to have some respect to the org and wait. Not have a social media competition of who’s going to post it first," said ImperialHal in response to another user who said his org should have been better prepared.

Regardless of how the public discovered the news, Team Falcons have replaced former IGL Zer0 with a well-respected team player and a consistent performer. Gild's first match for Team Falcons will be on Sept. 29 in the ALGS Pro League Americas.

All eyes will be on Gild’s debut as Team Falcons look to reassert themselves in the Americas Pro League where they currently sit in 4th place.
