FURIA are hitting their stride before LAN.

FURIA took home the title in the seventh edition of the Knights Carnage Cup. The first multi-map major tournament since Season 22 released gave teams a crucial insight into how the meta is shaping up ahead of the Split 2 Playoffs later this month.

FURIA were closely followed by both SSG and (Not)Moist who both seem to be adapting well to the new meta this season. GoNext also can be delighted with their performance. It's worth noting that this event was held on North American servers, putting the EMEA team at a slight disadvantage.

FURIA win Knights Carnage Cup

  • FURIA - 75 ($4,000)
  • Spacestation Gaming - 64 ($3,000)
  • NotMoist - 56 ($1,200)
  • Team Falcons - 51 ($1,000)
  • GoNext - 40 ($800)

New meta seems to be Crypto, Crypto and more Crypto

As well as seeing which teams are looking good ahead of the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in Mannheim, this was also a preview of how the meta might shakeout when Apex heads to the international stage in less than two weeks. The Knights Carnage Cup had teams from both EMEA and North America competing.

The biggest shift from previous competitive Apex events is undoubtedly the rise of Crypto. He sat above an 80% pickrate, joining Bangalore as a near must-pick for teams. Wattson, Pathfinder, Newcastle and Fuse are all also notable picks.

  • Wattson: 41.67%
  • Pathfinder: 39.17%

Season 22 seems to suit FURIA

FURIA will be pleased at their performance and how the meta is shifting. They adopted a Pathfinder, Crypto Newcastle composition to much success in todays Knights Carnage Cup action. Newcastle can take some adapting too, but Vaxlon has a lot of experience on the legend from his time on 100 Thieves. Previously, that team was a major pioneer of Newcastle entering the ALGS for the first time.

Pathfinder also seems to help bring out the best in Keon. A truly aggressive fragger, he is able to move around the map and in fights at lightning speed. Supporting this is ImMadness feeding heaps of information from Crypto.

The Knights Carnage Cup clearly isn't the same standard of Apex we will be seeing in Mannheim. However, FURIA will take confidence from their showing. Is this composition a LAN winning one? Time will tell.
