E-District in the ALGS?
E-District has made its competitive Apex Legends debut in the LuluLuvely Apex Legends Throwdown. The map might have only been avaliable to play for less than a week, but people are already considering if this map could eventually come to the ALGS and other tier 1 tournaments.
The recent Esports World Cup event added some of the traditionally unplayed Apex maps to the competitive rotation for that one-off event. This started to scratch the itch of Apex Competitive viewers who are desperate to see some variation from Storm Point and Worlds Edge in events like the ALGS.
Olympus, Kings Canyon and Broken Moon all seem to have been passed over, so could E-District head into the competitive rotations in the future?
Twitch Rivals brings E-District competitive Apex debut
While we have now officially seen E-District in a major competitive Apex tournament, with a huge $100k on the line across the throwdown, this tournament wasn't a traditional Apex event. Twitch Rivals events in Apex Legends always have unique and quirky rules to spice things up. Half of the days games were played on the new LTM. Some weapons earned double points in each game. There was even legend restrictions.
With those factors at play, it is a stretch to say we can analyse this event too much with E-District and the ALGS in mind. However, a tournament is still a tournament. There did not appear to be any major frustrations with E-District. Some of the landing locations are shareable, teams found enough loot and there were a lot of spots to play.

However, hours and hours of study go into mastering an Apex map at the top level. Even the most talented Apex players are still at that "I have no idea if I have ever been here before" stage with E-District. This added to the chaos, and made the map entertaining viewing.
If E-District does ever come to the ALGS and further competitive tournaments in Apex Legends, it will entirely shake up the game. A few Ranked games is all it takes for you to feel that the E-District is designed and laid out very differently from Storm Point and Worlds Edge. There are very few wide open fields. But, there are a range of chokes and different streets to navigate.
Height is also a major player in E-District, in a way we've never seen before in Apex. The map almost feels like one huge POI, and that is a big but not disqualifying difference.
There seems to be lots of places to play. Teams can take fights or position up for a late game spot just like teams tend to do on Worlds Edge and Storm Point.
While this Twitch Rivals event might not be the start of E-Districts journey to the ALGS, there are clearly encouraging signs when it comes to this maps viability. Could we see E-District feature in Year 5 of the ALGS. If not, could Broken Moon, Olympus or Kings Canyon rotate in instead?
