Caustic and Bangalore get some big changes in Apex Season 26.

Caustic and Bangalore are both getting some major tweaks in Apex Season 26, once again shifting up the meta. Caustic has been a bit of a marmite character across the games lifespan, but he will now be a direct counter to some of the new movement abilities added to the game recently.

Then, to control Caustic's power Bangalore will be tweaked to directly counter Caustic, Wattson and also Rampart. That means that these two Legends should both find a place in the meta, with Caustic keeping Ash, Sparrow and Alter in check and Bangalore keeping Caustic under control in return.

These changes are part of a concerted effort by Respawn to produce bigger meta shifts with each update to the game. So, here's what's changing with these two Legends this season.

Caustic gets a big overhaul in Apex Season 26

Respawn want Caustic to "feel like the supervillain he's meant to be" with these changes, and also use this as a chance to provide a counter to the steady power creep of movement abilities in the game.

To that end, he is getting a few extra abilities for his gas. The overall goal is to make Gas a bit more dangerous and make players feel the need to give it a bit more respect.

One of the changes is that Gas now grounds enemy players. No matter how fast they are moving, or what ability they are using. The second they touch Caustic gas in Apex Season 26, they will be sent to the floor and forced to fight. This will also reduce the speed of Legends like Octane.

Caustic also gets a brand new perk system via a new passive. This lets Caustic perform research in order to get an extra upgrade towards the end of the game.

Bangalore added as counter to Caustic in Apex Season 26

Apex veterans will remember that when Caustic is strong, he can be really annoying to play against. Recent buffs to Wattson mean that there will be a lot of options for bunkering down inside a building when Season 26 starts.

To that end, Bangalore is also getting some changes so she can combat Caustic, Wattson and other Legends that can set up shop in Apex Season 26.

This will focus around her Legend upgrades, with two different routes avaliable for Bangalore.

The Specialist route:

  • Her tactical and Ultimate can both be electrified. This lets them EMP what they hit. It won't slow enemies but it will destroy all deployables in range.

The Support route:

  • Buffs her smoke and revive ability
  • Gives faster revives in smokes

No return to the "can't see sh*t meta"

Bangalore and Caustic returning to the meta in Apex Season 26 might worry some diehard players. We've had periods in the game dubbed the "can't see sh*t" meta, but Respawn directly addressed this worry when setting out the changes coming this season.

They are adding a brand new counter to gas and smoke. Ordinance will now temporarily waft these abilities away, creating an opening for you to see what is going on. This is a nice extra counter in the game, and combined these three changes all work nicely together.
