Apex Legends Winter Wipeout event lets you ride a hoverboard!

Here’s everything to know about the Winter Wipeout event in Apex Legends.

Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) and Respawn Entertainment have revealed an action-packed trailer for the upcoming Apex Legends Winter Wipeout event! This event features hoverboards galore. Here's everything you need to know about them and more.

Apex Legends Winter Wipeout event release date

The Winter Wipeout event in Apex Legends goes from Jan. 6 and to Jan. 27. During the event, players can drop into Wildcard on Olympus. Each player begins the match with a hoverboard in their Survival Item slot and even gets to keep it after respawning.

Apex Legends hoverboards

In terms of what the hoverboards do, players can use them to double jump, wall ride, perform combos, ram enemies for damage, and so much more. Below are all of the hoverboard's abilities, courtesy of EA.

Wall RideRide on vertical surfaces at high speed and jump off to perform a Wall Ride trick.
High FallLand from a large drop to gain additional speed.
Zipline JumpMount a zipline on a hoverboard to move faster, then jump off for a directional speed boost.
EVO CombosPerform tricks in quick succession to earn higher EVO rewards.
Ramming SpeedRam enemies at high speed to deal damage, with more speed causing greater damage and knockback.
SlidesSlide to preserve momentum and take sharper turns, especially downhill.
Hoverboard KnockoffDeal heavy damage to enemies on hoverboards to knock them off.

Horizon gets Apex Stellaris prestige skin

In terms of event items, they include legendary skins for Bloodhound, Alter, Fuse, Mad Maggie, Gibraltar, and Newcastle. These legends have matching weapons as well. Horizon also gets the new Apex Stellaris prestige skin and finisher animation.

According to EA, all of these items are available through Apex Coins, Crafting Metals, or Winter Wipeout event packs. Each event pack includes one event item and two standard items. These packs don't contain duplicate Winter Wipeout items.

Apex Legends Winter Wipeout rewards

Players can also visit the in-game shop and exchange Glint for some Winter Wipeout items. Up to 1,750 Glint can be earned per day through completing event challenges. Rewards to note include an epic skin for Wattson, the aforementioned event packs, and more.

New Apex Legends Wild Cards

In addition to hoverboards and items, this update features new Wild Cards as well. These are Brain Freeze, Love Potion, and Protective Launch. Some existing ones also remain in rotation, including Go-Go Ammo, Fast Draw, Burning Rubber, Speedy Charge, Stowed Reload, Extra Zippy, The Quick and the Dead, Get Up and Go, Drone Support, and Smoke Out.

Protective LaunchTaking a jump pad grants a small shield regeneration.

Apex Legends patch notes: Octane, Crypto, and Newcastle

As for legends updates, they go to Octane, Crypto, and Newcastle. Octane gains better healing, a reworked Stim, and improved mobility. Meanwhile, Crypto gets buffs to his passive and his tactical ability. As for Newcastle, the legend gains speed improvements to his base kit to give him more reliable revives.
