One of the main draws for Apex Legends Season 17 is the new firing range. The developers released a walkthrough demonstrating its features.

The Firing Range for Apex Legends has remained largely the same since launch, undergoing a few minor improvements, if any. However, that will change with Season 17 bringing a whole new firing range. In Season 17, the Apex Legends Firing Range is completely different. It now better reflects most of the game's mechanics. In conversation with Raynday Gaming, developers Jeff Shaw and Joshua Mohan provided a walkthrough of the new Firing Range.

The new firing range allows players to extensively customize dummy behavior to make them as human-like as possible. "We created this whole new auto-spawn and dummy system. You can play with those settings; you can play with their shield levels, play with their behavior, decide whether or not they shoot back at you, how far they spawn", the developers claimed in the walkthrough.

The area to the back of the firing range is the new Training Ground. It's a small POI where players can run combat simulations, fight against bots or other human players and practice the game's core mechanics. The training ground features in-game elements like buildings, doors, windows, loot, and shield-swapping. This allows players to simulate in-game mechanics and combat situations with dummies as well as other players to practice gameplay.

The dueling pit is a combat pit in the new firing range that allows players to test their mettle in 1v1 situations. The pit features several concrete blocks that act as cover while fighting a single opponent. It also doubles down as a maze. Players can engage in 1v1 duels with their friends in the agility course to find out who has "the fastest wingman in the outlands," according to the developers. Developers noted that they were inspired by where players currently fight 1v1s in the existing Firing Range when developing this pit.

The Agility Course - Practice Movement Techniques

The Agility Course is to the right of the firing range. This course allows players to learn the game's free-flowing movement and experiment various mechanics. According to the developers, "This is really about familiarizing yourself with sliding, crouching, grabbing zip lines, getting to high places, chaining zip-lines, doing zip-cancels and all that fun stuff". It's quite similar to the agility course in Titanfall 2. It will allow players to express their creativity with the game's movement mechanics.

Apex Legends Season 17 is titled "Arsenal" and releases on May 9. The update includes several new features and changes. These include a new legend, changes to ranked, weapon mastery and a map overhaul, in addition to the firing range.
