Apex Legends Legacy: New Season to launch in May with Valkyrie

All aboard the hype train as Respawn reveal the brand new legend for the upcoming season as well as the drop date!

Respawn Entertainment announced the newest "Legacy" season launch date, legend, weapon, and more. Apex Legends Legacy is releasing on May 4th, 2021.

Legacy Season launching May 4th

Apex Legends finally revealed the much anticipated release date for the BR's newest season. The game recently crossed 100 million players and the developers promised a release date today. Instead of season 9, we are introduced to "legacy" which will connect the game to its Titanfall roots. The new season's headline star is brand new legend code named Valkyrie.

Valkyrie was announced in an eight minute animated short and will be played by Erika Ishii. Described as, "bold, brash, fiery and fierce," Valkyrie looks to escape her father's shadow and make a name for herself. The new season will feature a, "Legacy Battle Pass" and "Legacy Ranked" mode to highlight the theme. Respawn is also adding a new weapon the "bocek bow" named after game designer David Bocek.

Will we see Titans in Apex Legends Legacy?

Fans of Titanfall 2 have been clamoring for a sequel to the 2016 game, and in lieu of a Titanfall 2 trailer this is the closest we have seen both games cross over. Apex Legends is set in the same universe as the Titanfall franchise, but the game has only featured references to the main series.

The short titled, "Northstar" references the class of Titans known as "Northstar titans" that are pilotable in Titanfall 2. We could see Legends become pilots in Apex Legends Legacy, but that has yet to be confirmed by Respawn.

Apex Legends: Mobile

Also today, Respawn announced that their hit game will be ported for mobile phones. Starting regional beta testing in India and the Philippines, Apex Legends: Mobile was designed exclusively for touchscreens. Respawn plans on starting a small regional test (on Android) and gradually rolling it out worldwide over the coming year.

The mobile game notably will not feature cross-play with console/PC but will be free to play like its bigger counterpart. For all Apex Legends news keep it locked on Esports.gg
