2XKO has the typical game modes you’d expect from a fighter, so dive in to learn the ropes, practice a bit, and battle your friends.

2XKO isn't your traditional fighting game. It takes inspiration from the many "tag-team" fighters we've seen. That means it employs a 2v2 system, where you may control both fighters. So, with that type of unique approach, what kind of game modes are there in 2XKO?

The game might not be traditional in a sense, but its game modes certainly are. You'll be more than familiar with the type of modes you can jump into.

Every game mode in 2XKO

The LoL fighting game by Riot made a big jump from its Alpha Lab version to the full global launch — in terms of the game modes variety. Hopefully, the developers are not going to slow down, as some important features are still missing.

Casual fights in 2XKO

Every fighting game has this mode, and it's not too different in 2XKO.

You play with random people online, and the match results do not affect your rank. The fights certainly improve your skills and general understanding of the game.

The casual online matches in 2XKO follow the modern tradition of having lobbies, where people appear in the form of avatars. It's a fun way to interact with other players! Take a place near an arcade cabinet: to join someone or let others join you.

  • Casual matches can be harsh, as the skill difference may be huge. Finding someone of relatively your level is a blessing and a great way to practice 2XKO in action.

Ranked matches

The game has a ranking system, and to reach high levels, you should head to this mode.

  • On one hand, the pressure is real, as losing here means a potential decrease in your rank. This aspect makes the 2XKO ranked game mode an intense experience.
  • On the other hand, the system has been created to let players with a similar level to have fair matches. Rank is just a practical matchmaking tool!

With the Season 1 launch, the ranked mode received the essential option of training while in the ranked lobby.

Private

Private lobbies are available. You won't go into the main arcade lobby you see in Casual mode, however. Instead, a much cozier and smaller lobby awaits you.

A code can be made by the host, or you can just start the private match for it to auto-generate one. Send it to your friends and they can enter it to join, where you can train or straight up fight each other.

Training

Training mode is a destination for all even slightly serious players. You can set the environment to practice specific aspects, like block after the first hit to see what links into each other. Just repeating block strings is helpful, as you need muscle memory for them.

The more you experiment with the training mode in 2XKO, the more it opens itself. For example, you can program randomized actions for the bot to practice high and low blocks. Sometimes, the chill experience in training mode can be preferable over intense fighting.

The Tutorial game mode in 2XKO is a bit different than Training. You don't get to pick your fighters or the stage here. The game just sends you right into a fight with tooltips on the screen.

A certain amount of each action shown must be completed to move on. This is a good way to learn the controls if you end up switching from keyboard and mouse to a controller or gamepad, and vice versa.

What modes are missing in 2XKO?

The biggest issue with game modes in 2XKO is the lack of full-fledged single-player content. This aspect was highlighted by the content creator and pro player Diaphone in his interview for esports.gg.

Story mode, arcade fights, and various missions are great for beginners and casual players. Adding them would be a great accessibility boost.

Riot Games are set for a long-term support of 2XKO, which means increasing the number of available champions — and also increasing the selection of game modes.
