You can adopt and even name Inky in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ)! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to adopt Inky the cat in the game.
Where can you find Inky?
Inky can be found on Sixth Street in the evening and midnight. Before reaching the "Close" rank, the area menu will have an Open Mission mark but no Agent information.
Where to buy cat food for Inky in ZZZ
You can buy cat food from the 141 convenience store for 2,500 Dennies each. This purchase is capped at 10 per week, resetting on Mondays.
Inky trust events in ZZZ
You first encounter Inky in ZZZ early. This happens as a part of the main story, where the other Phaethon sibling talks to you on the backstreet of Sixth Street.
During this interaction, you get to pet Inky! But don't get used to it, since you won't get to pet this cute feline for a while.
Rank 1 (Familiar)
Whenever you find Inky during this rank, always choose to watch from afar. Do this enough times, and there will be a scenario where you get to pet Inky. After this scenario, always pet Inky.

Rank 2 (Friendly)
Here comes the difficult part. The English localization lacks the sufficient hints for you to make the "right" answer, so it ends up being a guessing game without a guide. Wrong answers decrease trust points!
When you find Inky during this stage, a dialogue will start. Your choice will depend on what Inky says.
Feed Inky if:
- You find Inky among a group of cats. Choose to feed Inky first.
- "Me-ow...!" (Perhaps it's trying to ask you for help…?)
- "Meow-ow..." (Maybe it's trying to ask you for help…?)
- "Meow-woo!"
- "Meow..."
Pet Inky if:
- "Meow-ow..." (Perhaps it's trying to ask you for help…?)
- "Meow~ Purr~ Purr~" (Perhaps it's trying to ask you for help…?)
- "Meow-woo..."
- "Meow-woo~"
- "Meow-woo-woo~"
Play with Inky:
Always choose to play with Inky twice.
- "Meow-oww~" (Inky seems to want you to play with it?)
Rank 3 (Close)
Inky's trust events in ZZZ will no longer appear as an exclamation mark on the Fast Travel menu. This means you have to search for our elusive friend manually. Lucky for you, it hangs out near Random Play now, so you probably won't have to search long. Note that Inky's events only happen in the evening or midnight!
It will ask you to play hide and seek more frequently, giving you lots of trust points. The dialogues from Rank 2 will still happen.
Rank 4 (Trusted)
All you have to do now is wait for a message from Soldier 11 to formally adopt Inky. You also get to name your newest pet, but keep in mind that this is a permanent action and there is no way to undo or rename the cat.
