How XDefiant ranked MMR works

In terms of matchmaking, the XDefiant ranked system will prioritize Rank Points (RP), latency, party size, region, input device, and platform in order.

XDefiant Ranked Play Matchmaking
Details
Rank Points (RP)Only matches within acceptable rank range.
LatencyPrefers similar pings.
Party SizePrefers to match squads against squads of similar size.
RegionPrefers players from the same region/language.
Input DevicePrefers players using the same input method.
PlatformPrefers players using the same platform. (PC, Xbox, PS)

RP will mean matches within an acceptable rank range while latency will prefer similar pings. Party size will match groups against groups of similar size, region will prefer players from the same location or with the same language. Next, input device will try to match players using the same input method while the final prioritization factor will pertain to matching players using the same platform.

Some playlists will enforce Input Device Locking. (Such as Ranked) When players start matchmaking, the input device they are using becomes "locked-in" and cannot be switched without leaving the lobby," Ubisoft stated on its official page on matchmaking. "This is to prevent players from intentionally joining with the wrong input device to trick the matchmaker."
