How to get a Riot Gun Buddy
Here are the Dos and Don’ts if you want to get the elusive Riot Gun Buddy.
As the most sought in-game item in the esports industry, the Riot gun buddy is one of 285 designs, all representing different themes including cosmetics, rank and agents.
Why is the Riot Buddy so rare?
Developers are allowed a total of 10 buddies to be given out at their discretion, limiting the number of riot buddies available for rioters to gift. As a result, they tend to be picky about who they gift these rare digital items.
How do I get a Riot Gun Buddy?
There are a few ways to get the buddy, and although possible, the chances are slim. Riot Gun Buddies are not openly purchasable and are reserved for only a specific group of people. Here's a list.
1. Becoming a Rioter
You may apply for jobs at Riot and hope to be qualified for a role in the organization. Rioters are allowed an allocated number of buddies to be given out and they are welcome to send them out to friends or even people that leave lasting impressions.
With a slim chance of receiving the Riot Gun Buddy, sportsmanship is a well-known method along with being endorsed officially. If you happen across a Rioter being your teammate. If they notice kindness and sportsmanship, there is a chance they will reward you.
DO NOT: Believe your teammates if they claim to be Rioters and want to sell them to you. Real Rioters would NEVER sell it.
3. Becoming a public figure
Being a public figure in the industry is definitely a way to obtain the Riot gun buddy, as it is most likely to catch the attention of Rioters. A way to become a public figure includes streaming, joining the professional circuit, or even working with tournament organizers, allowing you to meet some Rioters in person.
Example: I was one of the people who got a gun buddy by streaming, but as a small streamer who did not have much reach at an average of 2 viewers.

1. Harrass Rioters / Customer Service
Do not harass rioters on their social media or in their private lives nor do submitting tickets requesting it.
2. Bothering Riot Gun Buddy holders
If you come across a teammate or opponent with a Gun Buddy, do not spam, harass or bully someone for having it, they are not able to give it out and may not want to share their streams.
