A bunny VTuber who goes by the name Usada Pekora is one of the nominees for Content Creator of the Year for TGA 2024.
The Game Awards announced all of the nominees for its 10th run this year. One of the nominees for Content Creator of the Year, Usada Pekora, may be unfamiliar to some. Find out who Usada Pekora is here.
Who is Usada Pekora?
Usada Pekora is a Japanese Virtual YouTuber, or VTuber, under hololive. hololive also has a Western branch (hololive EN), handled by COVER Corporation's subsidiary, COVER USA.
Usada Pekora began her activities in July 2019 as a part of hololive's third generation of VTubers. Since then, she has amassed 2.63 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. According to Streams Charts, Pekora is the most watched female streamer of 2024 so far, having a cumulative of 26.2 million hours watched.
She led the charts for the most-viewed female streamer in Q1 and Q2 of 2024. In Q2 alone, Pekora was watched for almost 10 million hours across 290 hours of airtime, towering over fellow hololive talent Sakura Miko at second place.
Earlier this year, Usada Pekora was part of "hololive night," a collaboration with the baseball team Los Angeles Dodgers. She, alongside Suisei Hoshimachi and hololive EN's Gawr Gura, was featured in various promotional art, merchandise, and a drone show in Dodger Stadium.
Amidst her streaming and content creation career, she has also released several singles and even a full album, "USAGI the MEGAMI," and performs at concerts. Pekora might be a Virtual YouTuber, but her fans, called the "Nousagis," are very much real.
She streams primarily in Japanese, but thanks to the efforts of clippers and those who translate her content, her fanbase has reached even those who do not speak her language.
Even renowned Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima is a fan.

Usada Pekora expressed her joy over a post on X (formerly Twitter). "This is amazing, isn't it? I'm so happy!," says Pekora.
Voting for The Game Awards 2024 is now ongoing. The winners will be announced on December 12.
