Spectre Divide launches on September 3, and beforehand, the developers published a crash course for anyone who wants to prepare. After a couple of tests, the Spectre Divide Beginner's Guide is here to help veterans and newbies alike.

The Beginner's Guide to Spectre Divide has everything you need to know before diving in. From how to play, how a game flows, and what to expect on its maps, there's plenty to learn. It can even be a bit of refresh if you're returning from one of the testing phases.

How to play

  • First team to 8 wins
  • Attack and Defend bomb-based mode where sides swap at the half
    • Attack looks to eliminate entire enemy team or plant the Zeus
    • Defend looks to eliminate entire enemy team or defuse Zeus if planted
  • Control two bodies, with a Puck to throw/place to move your Spectre around the map
  • Players pick Sponsors to determine equipment loadouts
  • 20 different weapons, with pairs available to purchase for you and your Spectre during the Buy Phase
    • Economy is comparable to the likes of VALORANT and Counter-Strike

  • Each map has different paths to sites and different elevation points
    • Some elevated points can only be reached with a Puck throw
  • Each map has two sites
  • Reveal Walls will let the Attack team know when Defenders pass through them
    • Reveal Walls expire 40 seconds into a round
  • Fast Recall Zones are green-striped areas where your Spectre will arrive at a faster rate if the Puck is placed there

A beginner's guide to gunplay in Spectre Divide

  • True-to-crosshair accuracy
    • No movement penalty when shooting while ADS
    • Each weapon's sights allow you an additional zoom for longer engagements
  • Duality allows you to approach multiple angles
    • Cover your back with a close quarters weapon
    • Have your Spectre sit nearby with a similar weapon to get right back to your push
    • Use your Spectre to throw utility from one area, switch bodies, and catch the opposition off guard
