Dying over and over again isn’t a viable strategy.

If you have started to explore the map of Ashenfall in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, then you might have come across a region called "Bloodblight Swamp." This region of the game is a poisonous swamp that immediately starts to sap your health the moment you arrive, leaving you with very little in the way of defenses. Naturally, as the main story requires you to find an item in the region, you need to learn how to survive in Bloodblight Swamp to progress in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

But other than gulping down Healing Potions every few seconds, what else can you do to protect yourself from the swamp's poison? You can find that out in the guide below.

Fortunately, there is a concrete way to survive for long periods of time in Bloodblight Swamp. All you're going to need is a Brewing Cauldron, some Charcoal, and a few ingredients to brew a specific potion.

A Brewing Cauldron is unlocked and can be crafted at your base after you mine some clay in the Whispering Swamp. It requires the following resources to build:

Once you have your Brewing Cauldron up and running, you also need to build a Kiln, which unlocks after mining clay as well. At the Kiln, insert some Ash Logs to create Charcoal, which you use as fuel for the Brewing Cauldron.

With all of those steps taken, you now need to brew a Weak Antipoison Potion, which is the only line of defense you have against the Bloodblight Swamp's poison. A Weak Antipoison Potion requires the following ingredients to brew:

  • Harralander
  • Bittercap Mushroom
  • Clay Vessel
  • Charcoal (fuel)

Harraland and Bittercap Mushroom are both looted off the ground in Whispering Swamp. Harralander is a bluish-green herb, while a Bittercap Mushroom is an orange-headed mushroom. Both grow all around Whispering Swamp, so just take a few laps around the region until you have a solid inventory of both.

As for the Clay Vessel, this needs to be initially crafted at a Pottery Wheel and requires clay to make. At first, you'll craft an unfired Clay Vessel, which can then be turned into a full Clay Vessel by inserting it into a Kiln.

After you have all three ingredients plus your Charcoal, chuck them all into the Brewing Cauldron to make the Weak Antipoison Potion. This potion, when consumed, protects you from all poison damage for 300 seconds (five minutes).

When you consume one, you'll see a circle icon and countdown timer appear next to your HP and stamina at the bottom-left corner of the HUD. When that countdown timer approaches zero, just consume another potion to stay alive in Bloodblight Swamp.
