The Oil mutation is one of the newest types of mutation introduced during the second and final part of Grow a Garden’s Cooking Update. If you’re present during the Albert admin abuse event, count yourself lucky because there’s a good chance that you already have some Oil crops in your garden.
But what about those who missed the event? Don’t worry, there’s still hope, as we’ll share with you the options that you can consider to get the Oil Mutation.
Getting the Oil Mutation in Grow a Garden
The only methods of obtaining the Oil Mutation are by using the Junkbot pet or staying online during the Oil Rain weather system, which is a type of admin event.
Unfortunately, you can only witness the Oil Rain if Jandel enables it during an admin abuse event. This usually occurs on Saturdays, about an hour before the launch of another update. However, there’s no guarantee it will happen even if you’re playing during the event, as Jandel can choose from several other admin weather systems.
So far, the best and most reliable method is to equip a Junkbot in your garden. This robot pet can give the Oil Mutation to a nearby crop every 14 minutes, although it only has a chance of 14%. With the help of some Pet Toys, you can increase the odds of a Junkbot mutating a crop.
Since the Junkbot is a limited-edition pet given only during the August 9 admin abuse event, players who don’t have it can try their luck on trading. It’s a Mythical pet, so prepare to offer a pet of the same rarity if you want to acquire one from another player.
