Locate hidden treasures by understanding how coordinates work!
Reading coordinates in Fisch can be confusing at first, but mastering such a skill is definitely an advantage, especially for new players who want to grind their way at early levels.
In addition to catching various sea creatures, players can also reel in random items while fishing anywhere in the game. One particularly valuable find while fishing is a Treasure Map—an item that reveals the location of a hidden Treasure Chest. This chest may contain rare loot such as baits, threads, bobbers, totems, and even a unique rod.
However, instead of showing the visual location of Treasure Chests, Treasure Maps in Fisch only provide a set of coordinates that players must interpret and navigate to find the hidden rewards.

If you have never played Fisch before and you’re wondering how to use Treasure Map coordinates, as well as to identify your character’s current coordinates, this guide will show you the way.
Viewing coordinates in Fisch

If you want to see your coordinates, you’ll need to buy a GPS for C$100. There are two locations where you can find this item. The first is in Moosewood, on a chair near the island’s pond, and the second is at the guard tower in Mushgrove Swamp.
Since GPS is a cheap item that lets you know your coordinates, it is highly recommended that you purchase one the moment you earn money from fishing in Moosewood. Once you have a GPS, you may use it anytime you want to check your coordinates.

Fisch only uses three spatial coordinates: X, Y, and Z. The three sets of numbers shown at the bottom of your screen every time you enable your GPS represent these coordinates, respectively.
Reading coordinates on Treasure Maps

Apart from determining your exact location in the game, coordinates are also important for claiming the rewards in Treasure Maps.
When you get a Treasure Map, it will only show the treasure’s X-coordinate. To see the Y and Z-coordinates, head to Forsaken Shores and talk to an NPC named Jack Marrow. Pay him C$250, and he will fix that map for you.
Notice that the value of each coordinate in your GPS changes if you move to a particular position.

Enable your GPS and look at the compass on your screen. Here are the ways your movements affect the values of your coordinates:
Movement | Affected Coordinates | Effects in Value |
---|---|---|
Going east. | X-coordinate | Decreases X-coordinate value. |
Going west. | X-coordinate | Increases X-coordinate value. |
Going south. | Z-coordinate | Increases Z-coordinate value. |
Going north. | Z-coordinate | Decreases Z-coordinate value. |
Jumping or climbing to a higher area. | Y-coordinate | Increases Y-coordinate value. |
Diving underwater or going to a lower area. | Y-coordinate | Decreases Y-coordinate value. |

Locating Fisch Treasure Chests

When finding a Treasure Chest, your goal is to match your character’s coordinates with the ones on the map. You can start by navigating your way through the X coordinate first.
Depending on the X-coordinates of your character and the map, you may adjust by heading east or west until your X-coordinate is almost the same as the map. Only then can you proceed to your target Z-coordinate by doing the same process, working your way north or south.
Try to keep moving in a straight line as you adjust your Z-coordinate to avoid messing up your X-coordinate.
Sometimes, an island will block your way, and if you’re close to the coordinate that you’re following, it might indicate that the chest is somewhere on that island.
The Y-coordinate is fairly easy to locate, as it only refers to the vertical position of the chest.

In case your current Y-coordinate is lower than the map’s Y-coordinate, it means that the chest is above you, so look for ways to get in that position. On the other hand, if your Y-coordinate is higher than the map’s Y-coordinate, the chest is below you, which may sometimes require you to claim the rewards underwater.
