Maximize your cooking rewards by using the new Gorilla Chef pet!

The Gorilla Chef is a new Legendary Food-type pet introduced during the last installment of the Cooking Event in Grow a Garden. Like the Spaghetti Sloth, this ape also dons a chef uniform, and when used properly, it can help you double your rewards from Chris P. and trigger the Kitchen Storm more often.

Whether you’ve just acquired this pet or are simply curious about the Gorilla Chef’s trait, this post covers everything you need to know, along with tips on how to take full advantage of it.

Gorilla Chef trait in Grow a Garden

Having an active Gorilla Chef in your garden can give you at least a 5.16% chance to duplicate the food that you’re currently cooking, as long as you have an equipped Cooking Pot or a Cooking Cauldron.

Gorilla Chef’s trait is a bit similar to Nihonzaru in a way that this pet also requires specific cosmetic gear.

The Cooking Pot is sometimes available at the Cosmetics Shop, so if you still don’t have one, check the shop’s stocks regularly. On the other hand, the Cooking Cauldron is currently more accessible, as it’s one of the most common rewards offered by the Food Connoisseur NPC.

How to get the Gorilla Chef

The only way to obtain the Gorilla Chef pet in Grow a Garden is by submitting mutated meals to the Food Connoisseur. If the Connoisseur judges your dish, you’ll get to choose from three possible rewards, with the Gorilla Chef having a 5% chance of appearing as one of them.

To boost your chances of getting the Gorilla Chef, submit meals with as many mutations as possible. This can be done by using ingredients that already have multiple mutations.

Tips for using Gorilla Chef’s trait

  • Don’t forget to equip a Cooking Pot or Cauldron in your garden while the Gorilla Chef is around. Otherwise, its trait won’t trigger.
  • The Gorilla Chef’s trait is considered a passive ability, so if you want to raise its odds of duplicating meals, feed it with Small and Medium Pet Toys.
  • Pets generally perform better at their jobs as they get older, so consider adding a Mochi Mouse or some owls to your garden for an XP boost.
