This Elite Skeleton enemy can burn you into a crisp if you’re not strong enough.
While it is not the toughest enemy you can face in The Forge, the Elite Rogue Skeleton can still be tough to deal with, especially if you are below level 60 and lack strong weapons and armor.
Get rid of an Elite Rogue Skeleton quickly and locate its spawn spot with this guide, especially if you are farming essences or runes.
Where to find Elite Rogue Skeletons in The Forge
Elite Rogue Skeletons are the upgraded versions of the Skeleton Rogues found at the entrance of the Ruined Cave in the Forgotten Kingdom. To find at least one Elite Rogue Skeleton, you need to go deeper into the cave to an area called the Volcanic Depths.
To access the Volcanic Depths, go inside the Ruined Cave, and you’ll find a forked path consisting of four other paths. Choose the first path on the right (the one with a “Danger” sign). Continue heading straight until you take another path to your right.
In this section, you’ll meet an NPC named Amber, from whom you can get a repeatable quest entitled Elite Threat, which involves defeating 30 Elite Rogue Skeletons. If you want to collect loot from the Elite Rogue Skeleton, we highly recommend taking this quest as well for some extra money and XP.
Just beside Amber is the Magma Pickaxe that you can purchase for $150,000. It’s a strong pickaxe that you can use for mining Volcanic Rocks, so try to farm lots of money if you want to try it.
Also located in this place is an underground passage surrounded by molten stalagmites, which is sometimes blocked by a couple of Basalt Veins. Mine these Basalt Veins and enter the passage to get to the Volcanic Depths.
Enemies in the Volcanic Depths
The Volcanic Depths is so far the best farming spot in the game, be it for ores or money. This place is home to various enemies, including the Elite Rogue Skeleton.
Other than the Elite Rogue Skeleton, here are other enemies that you can find inside the Volcanic Depths:
- Elite Deathaxe Skeleton
- Blight Pyromancer
- Reaper
- Blazing Slime
If you can’t locate an Elite Rogue Skeleton in the Volcanic Depths, defeat other enemies you encounter. Over time, an Elite Rogue Skeleton should spawn in one of the areas.
Tips for beating Elite Rogue Skeletons

Unlike the Elite Deathaxe, the moves of Elite Rogue Skeletons are much quicker and harder to predict. They’re much smaller, so if you don’t have good eyesight, you might find it quite difficult to parry their attacks.
The key to defeating Elite Rogue Skeletons is dealing heavy damage while boosting your HP with the Vitality trait found in ores.
When crafting new armor, prioritize traits from Obsidian and Mythril. If possible, farm some Demonite ores to craft Demonite Armor, which comes with a trait that can burn an enemy’s HP.
As for the weapon, you can craft anything that fits your playstyle. But if you’re looking for a quicker way to take down any enemy in the game, you should craft a heavy weapon made from ores like Rivalite, Eye Ore, Fireite, or Magmaite.
Elite Rogue Skeleton’s drops
A defeated Elite Rogue Skeleton gives you around $35-$70 and 67-135 XP, as well as a chance to drop any of the following items:
- Greater Essence: 1 in 6 chance
- Superior Essence: 1 in 10 chance
- Epic Essence: 1 in 25 chance
- Rage Mark Rune: 1 in 25 chance
- Dark Boneite: 1 in 6 chance
