Shadow Suicune is back in Pokémon GO Shadow Raids across Saturdays and Sundays in May. Shadow Suicune is a pretty powerful Water-type Raid attacker and well worth raiding for over the month.

Plus, you can encounter Shadow Suicune in the shiny form for the first time ever in Pokémon GO. The shiny odds are the same as other Five Star Raids, about 1 in 20.

Of course, Shadow Raids are very difficult in Pokémon GO. You'll need a team of in person trainers if you want to take Shadow Suicune down, as well as plenty of Purified Gems.

Shadow Suicune has a weakness to Electric and Grass-types. As a Water-type, it has a resistance to Fire, Ice, Steel and Water-type Pokémon too.

Sadly, Water-types aren't that useful in Pokémon GO but there are occasions where they are extremely powerful.

Despite Shadow Suicune only having two weaknesses in Pokémon GO, there are still lots of good counters to use to win this Shadow Raid:

There are lots of good choices to take on Shadow Suicune in Pokémon GO. The best of these is Mega Sceptile and Kartana. Thankfully, both of these powerful Pokémon have been in Raids recently.

Depending on the amount of trainers with you will probably dictate if you need to use a Mega-Pokémon in your raid team, or if you can use a Mega Evolution that will earn you bonus Candy.

Of course, any Pokémon listed here in its Mega form will also be a good counter in its standard form. Don't forget you can only have one Pokémon Mega Evolved at once.

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Water-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

Before we even think about how many trainers you need - you MUST have Purified Gems to take down Shadow Suicune in Pokémon GO. Without, this raid will be near impossible.

Trainers using Party Play and with very powerful Shadow Suicune counters will need a group of at least four. However, most Pokémon GO players should be aiming for at least six (ideally eight) trainers when they take on this raid.

Shadow Pokémon have a much lower 'IV floor'. This only makes a 100% IV Shadow Suicune even rarer than usual.
