Shadow Entei is back in Pokémon GO Shadow Raids across Saturdays and Sundays in July. Shadow Entei is a very powerful Fire-type Raid attacker and well worth raiding for over the month.

Plus, you can encounter Shadow Entei in the shiny form in Pokémon GO, after it debuted back in April. The shiny odds are the same as other Five Star Raids, about 1 in 20.

Of course, Shadow Raids are very difficult in Pokémon GO. You'll need a team of in person trainers if you want to take Shadow Entei down, as well as plenty of Purified Gems.

Shadow Entei is a Fire-type, and has a weakness to Water, Rock and Ground-type Pokémon. In addition, Shadow Entei has a resistance to Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice and Steel-types.

As expected, the two Primal Pokémon are some of the best Shadow Entei counters in Pokémon GO. With both of them having had Raid Days this year, you'll likely have the Mega Energy to Primal Evolve one of Groudon or Kyogre. Of course, non Mega Evolved versions of those Pokémon are also good counters too.

Rhyperior is another readily available Pokémon, with Rhyhorn being a common spawn all season long. We also saw the global roll out of Mega Diance recently too. Even Tyrantrum has featured a lot in recent months, so all Trainers should be able to get a good team together.

This list is full of Mega Pokémon, but as always, the normal versions of those will also be good counters. After all, you can only have one Pokémon Mega Evolved at a time in Pokémon GO.

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Fire-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

Groudon is absolutely your best bet here. Not only will you get additional candy and candy XL for Shadow Entei, but it will also target Shadow Entei's weakness to Ground-type Pokémon too.

Before we even think about how many trainers you need - you MUST have Purified Gems to take down Shadow Entei in Pokémon GO. Without, this raid will be near impossible.

For high level trainers, at least five with very high level counters is a safe minimum. Party Play may reduce this slightly, but be prepared to lose a LOT of Pokémon.

For lower level trainers, you're looking at 8-10 minimum to win this raid. Don't forget, Shadow Raids are local only.

If you're looking to save some Candy and Stardust, keep an eye out for Sunny weather. It will mean Shadow Entei hits harder, but your Ground-type Pokémon will also be boosted. Primal Groudon is an even better choice in Sunny weather.

With Shadow Pokémon costing so much to power up, this Weather Boost can be pretty valuable.
