Trainers have a big decision to make during Pokémon GO Wild Area, which path should you choose?
The entirety of Pokémon GO Wild Area follows a Poison and Electric-type theme. The spawns during the event are either-type, and so are a lot of the Raids and other bosses. This is because this is the typing of the main Pokémon debut, Toxtricity. Trainers will have to choose a path during Pokémon GO Wild Area.
Each path is themed around one of the two types that the event is focused around. There is an Electric path and a Poison path.
There are bonuses and encounters associated with each path, so you will have to choose carefully to get the most out of your Pokémon GO Wild Area experience. Here is everything you need to know to make your decision.
Which Pokémon GO Wild Area path is best?
Either path is going to give you some good bonuses and rewards to take advantage of during Wild Area. However, there are some key differences between them. You will get different encounters and a different medal at the end of the event.
Additionally, Trainers will also get some bonuses for the week after Wild Area, that last from Monday November 25 until Friday, November 29. These will also be different. Ultimately, the best path is whichever encounter's you prefer.
Wild Area Electric Path
During the event:
- Encounter with Pikachu Pop Star
- Encounter with Dynamax Toxtricity (Amped Form)
- Electric Expert medal upon Special Research completion
After the event:
- Timed Research granted each day focused on Electric-type Pokémon. Rewards include a Lucky Egg, Stardust, and Rare Candy
- 2× damage for Electric-type attacks used in raids, Gym battles, and Max Battles
- Team GO Rocket balloons will appear more often

Wild Area Poison Path
During the event:
- Encounter with Pikachu Rock Star
- Encounter with Dynamax Toxtricity (Low Key Form)
- Poison Expert medal upon Special Research completion
After the event:
- Timed Research granted each day focused on Poison-type Pokémon. Rewards include a Lucky Egg, Stardust, and Rare Candy
- 2× damage for Poison-type attacks used in raids, Gym battles, and Max Battles
- Team GO Rocket balloons will appear more often
The main difference is between which costume Pikachu you encounter. Either Pop Star (left) or Rock Star (right). The Toxtricity forms are functionally the same, and you can also encounter either form during the event anyway. The bonuses are nice, but neither types are incredibly useful.
