Prepare your team for the Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup.

The Sunshine Cup is back in Pokémon GO PvP until October 15. The Sunshine Cup operates as the Great League (1500 max CP) with a range of additional restrictions. That means that your usual Great League team might not apply.

The Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup only allows Normal, Ground, Grass and Fire-type Pokémon. All members of your team must have at least one of these types. Additionally, Charizard is banned from the Sunshine Cup.

So, what are some of the best Pokémon you can use to rack up victories in the Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup?

What is the best team for the Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup?

It's hard to always say there is a one size fits all best team for any single Pokémon GO PvP Cup or League. After all, Pokémon GO PvP is all about counters, specific movesets and thinking outside the box to get one up on your opponent. So bear that in mind.

However, statistically the best team for the Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup is Talonflame, Clodsire and Jumpluff (or Shadow Jumpluff).

This team gives you a good range of type coverage, with these Pokémon having a range of moves in a range of categories. Additionally, none of these Pokémon need XL candy in order to reach the top end of the 1500 CP limit.

Pokémon GO Sunshine Cup: Solid Pokémon to use

If you want to try something a bit different, here are some of the other Pokémon that can fare very well in the Sunshine Cup:

Diggersby
Quick Attack, Fire Punch, Scorching Sands
Quagsire (Shadow)
Mud Shot, Aqua Tail, Stone Edge
Lickilicky
Rollout, Body Slam, Shadow Ball
Staravia
Quick Attack, Brave Bird, Fly
Dunsparce
Rollout, Drill Run, Rock Slide
Tropius
Air Slash, Leaf Bade, Aerial Ace
Pidgeot
Gust, Feather Dance, Brave Bird
Abomasnow
Powder Snow, Icy Wind, Energy Ball
Quagsire
Mud Shot, Aqua Tail, Stone Edge
Flygon
Dragon Tail, Scorching Sands, Dragon Claw
Noctowl
Wing Attack, Sky Attack, Night Shade
Staravia (Shadow)
Quick Attack, Brave Bird, Fly
Staraptor
Quick Attack, Fly, Close Combat
Marowak (Shadow)
Mud Slap, Bone Club, Rock Slide
Gastrodon
Mud Slap, Body Slam, Water Pulse

Be warned that while several Shadow Pokémon are all very useful in the Sunshine Cup, Shadow Pokémon are more expensive to power up, and much harder to get optimised IV values for. For a temporary PvP Cup, it might not be worth the investment. Some exceptions, like Quagsire, might be worth the investment as they are good in the general Great League.

However, using any of those Pokémon will stand you in good stead for your battles in the Sunshine Cup. Good luck out there Trainers!
