What Spotlight Hours can you expect in January 2025 in Pokémon GO?
January 2025 brings a new set of Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours. Once per week on a Tuesday, Trainers can encounter one specific featured Pokémon for an hour. There are also featured bonuses each week.
That makes Spotlight Hours a fantastic chance to get out and grind Pokémon GO. You can farm a lot of Stardust, XP, Candy, hunt shinies or even just grind for a specific type of one Pokémon.
Here are all the Spotlight Hours coming in January 2025.
When is the Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour?
All the January 2025 Spotlight Hours will take place in Pokémon GO on a Tuesday, between 6pm and 7pm local time. There will be a Spotlight Hour each Tuesday during January, and each one will have its own bonus.
All January 2025 Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO
Here are all the featured Pokémon and Bonuses coming in January 2025.
January 7 - Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb, 2x Catch Stardust
The first Spotlight Hour of 2025 is a two-for-one special, with both forms of Voltorb spawning for an hour. We also get the fantastic bonus of double catch Stardust.
Unfortunately, this isn't a Stardust boosted Pokémon so this hour won't be as lucrative as the 2x catch Stardust Spotlight hour last month. In addition, neither form of Voltorb are particually useful, either in PvP or Raids.
However, these Pokémon have a high catch rate, and both of them can be shiny too. If you're after Stardust, this is still an hour well spent.

January 14 - Roselia, 2x Catch XP
Roselia is the featured Pokémon for the second Spotlight Hour in January 2025. Roselia can be shiny, and the bonus of 2x catch XP is a great way to rack up XP by hitting Excellent Throws consistently.
Unlike the Voltorb Spotlight Hour, Roselia does have some utility in the game. Roserade, which evolves from Roselia, is a very good budget Pokémon to have in your collection. In the Poison-type category, Roserade ranks fifth ahead of the likes of Mega Venusaur and Revavroom. Then as a Grass-type, Roserade sits 19th which beats out plenty of good other budget Pokémon like Decidueye, Venusaur, Torterra and Sceptile.
If you need a good budget Grass or Poison-type, or some XP, Roselia Spotlight Hour is a fantastic chance to play Pokémon GO.
January 21 - Paldean Wooper, 2x Catch Candy
On the face of it, the third Spotlight Hour of January 2025 seems pretty boring. Paldean Wooper just had a Community Day, it's not a good Pokémon for Raids and we've had plenty of chances to get the shiny already.
However, you'd be wrong. Paldean Wooper evolves into Clodsire, which is one of the best Pokémon for PvP in the entire game. For PvP, you need a Clodsire with low attack IV's, and high Defence and HP IV's. That can be hard to find.
So, the January 21 Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour is a great chance to find a Paldean Wooper with the IVs you need for PvP. Plus, if you can find a friend, you could mirror trade your Pokémon after the hour and get a second chance at the ideal IV's if you don't find what you need.
January 28 - Yungoos, 2x Transfer Candy
The final Spotlight Hour of January 2025 features Yungoos. To be honest, there isn't really much to say about this Pokémon. The shiny has been out for a while, it isn't a good Pokémon for PvP or Raids and there are no XP or Stardust bonuses to farm.
However, 2x Transfer Candy is a great bonus in Pokémon GO. This provides Trainers a fantastic opportunity to clear out their storage. In particular, you can Transfer your Legendary Pokémon during this Spotlight Hour to get additional Candy.
