Mega y Charizard is back in Pokémon GO Mega Raids from June 19-28. This is one of two variants of Mega Charizard. While only the Y version is in Pokémon GO raids, the Charizard Mega Energy you get can be used on any Charizard to Mega Evolve into either form.
Both versions of Mega Charizard are very powerful Fire-type attackers, so battling Mega Y Charizard in raids will gather you very valuable Mega Energy for this Pokémon.

Mega Y Charizard is a Flying and Fire-type, and has a double weakness to Rock-type attacks, and a single weakness to Electric and Water-type attacks.
In addition, Mega Y Charizard has a resistance to Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Ground and Steel-types as well as a double resistance to Grass and Bug-types.

Naturally with a double weakness to Rock-types, the best Mega Charizard Y counters are mostly Rock-types. Mega Diancie was just released to all Trainers recently, and some of these other Pokémon have been spawning frequently too. Rhyperior for instance comes from Rhyhorn, which is a very common spawn.
All in all, finding a team of Pokémon to take on this Raid shouldn't be too challenging.

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Fire and Flying-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.
