Take on Mega Altaria in Pokémon GO with our Raid Guide.

Mega Altaria is back in Pokémon GO Mega Raids for the rest of the season, until December 3rd. This Pokémon has a unique Fairy and Dragon-typing, which makes it an interesting prospect in the game.

However, in terms of a Raid Attacker, Mega Altaria is not a good Pokémon at all. Common Pokémon like Granbull, Primarina and Hatterene are all better Fairy-type attackers.

So, grinding for Mega Altaria is purely about the Raid Rewards and potential candy and XP bonuses that Mega Pokémon can get you.

Here is everything you need to know to take on Mega Altaria in Pokémon GO.

Best Mega Altaria counters in Pokémon GO:

There are a lot of good Pokémon to use when battling Mega Altaria in Pokémon GO. By far the best choice is Dusk Mane Necrozma, a powerful Pokémon last seen during GO Fest 2024. While we are getting a Necrozma Fusion Raid Day this won't be in time to take on these Mega Raids.

What is great about Dusk Mane Necrozma, is that it isn't a Mega Pokémon but is just as powerful as one. That lets you use a Mega Pokémon like Mega Gardevoir alongside them. Other great choices include Nihilego and Origin Forme Dialga that both featured in the recent Pokémon GO Wild Area event. Hopefully that means Trainers have both of these Pokémon.

For a budget option, Excadrill is also a very good counter to Mega Altaria in Pokémon GO.
