Take on Lugia in Pokémon GO with our Raid Guide.

Lugia is back in Pokémon GO Raids until November 18. Excitingly, any Lugia caught during this period will know its signature attack, Aeroblast. This is a very powerful move, and it's a great chance to get your hands on a Lugia without having to use an Elite Charged TM.

Additionally, this is also a prime opportunity to get more Lugia Candy and Candy XL for your Shadow Lugia's that you caught earlier in the year.

Here's everything you need to know to beat Lugia in Pokémon GO.

Best Lugia counters in Pokémon GO:

Lugia has a weakness to Dark, Electric, Ghost, Ice and Rock-types. It has two double resistances, to Fighting and Ground types, then further resistances to Grass and Psychic-types. So, avoid Fighting and Ground-types in particular.

Here are the best Lugia counters in Pokémon GO:

Mega Tyranitar
Bite & Brutal Swing
Dawn Wings Necrozma
Shadow Claw & Moongeist Beam
Tyranitar
Bite & Brutal Swing
Dusk Mane Necrozma
Shadow Claw & Sunsteel Strike
Mega Gengar
Lick & Shadow Ball
Mega Gyarados
Bite & Crunch
Mega Rayquaza
Dragon Tail & Dragon Ascent
Xurkitree
Thunder Shock & Discharge
Hydregion
Bite & Brutal Swing
Zekrom
Charge Beam & Fusion Bolt
Mega Manectric
Thunder Fang & Wild Charge
Origin Forme Giratina
Shadow Claw & Shadow Force

If you played any of the Pokémon GO Fest events, then you should be ready to take on Lugia's weaknesses. Both Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma are fantastic Lugia counters in Pokémon GO, just like they were for the Shadow Raids. If you still haven't used all your Fusion Energy and have a spare Necrozma and Lunala, we suggest fusing into Dawn Wings, as that is the better of the two.

What great about those two Fusion Pokémon is that they are just as powerful as Mega Pokémon, but you can have more than one of them in your team at once. That means you can pair them with a powerful Mega Pokémon. The best Mega to take advantage of Lugia's weaknesses is Mega Tyranitar.

Overall, there are some really good Pokémon to choose from, and a lot of them have been avaliable to Trainers this past year. This should allow all Trainers to get a team together to take on Lugia in Pokémon GO.

Can Lugia be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes, Lugia can be shiny after your Raid in Pokémon GO.

Mega Evolutions to get you more Lugia candy in Pokémon GO

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Flying and Psychic-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

Here are the Pokémon you can Mega Evolve to get more Lugia candy in Pokémon GO:

  • Alakazam
  • Slowbro
  • Gardevoir
  • Medicham
  • Latias
  • Latios
  • Rayquaza
  • Pidgeot
  • Pinsir
  • Aerodactyl
  • Salamence

Sadly, none of these Pokémon are very good Lugia counters. However, Mega Rayquaza is very powerful and is still a solid option to use against Lugia if you want bonus Candy.

How many trainers do I need to beat Lugia in Pokémon GO?

Lugia is reasonably tough to beat in Pokémon GO. You need an absolute minimum of three Trainers to win this Raid, if you have very powerful counters and are using Party Play.

Otherwise, you should aim for at least six Trainers to beat Lugia in Pokémon GO.

What is the Lugia Pokémon GO 100% IV?

Here are the 100% IV CP's to keep your eye out for after the Raid.
