How to get Umbreon in Pokémon Go

Eevee is one of the most unique Pokémon since it can evolve into different types of Eeveelutions. These include Fire, Water, Electric, Psychic, Dark, Grass, Ice, and Fairy-type Pokémon. Among the more popular Eeveelutions is Umbreon. Umbreon is a Dark type that can be acquired in Pokémon Go in two ways. Here's how you can evolve your Eevee into an Umbreon in Pokémon Go.

The easiest way to get Umbreon is to rename your Eevee before evolving it. Of course, it goes without saying that you'll need 25 Eevee candy before you can do this. Once you've acquired enough candy, rename your Eevee to Tamao. After renaming your Eevee, evolve it and it'll turn into an Umbreon. You can only use the renaming trick once per Eeveelution. If you've already used this method to acquire an Umbreon before, it won't work with Eevee again.

Another method that evolves Eevee into Umbreon involves making Eevee your buddy. Swap your existing buddy to Eevee and walk 10 km with it. Then, wait for nighttime in the game. You'll know it's night based on the visuals. Evolve your buddy Eevee at night to get Umbreon.

Umbreon is recognized among the strongest Eeveelutions alongside Espeon. While it doesn't gain a lot of combat power on evolution, it makes up for this with a large health pool and strong Dark-type abilities. As a Dark-type Pokémon, Umbreon is strong against Ghost and Psychic-type foes. In turn, it is weak against Bug, Fairy, and Fighting-type Pokémon.
