Here is how to get as many Poké Balls as possible in Pokémon GO.

How do you get more Poké Balls in Pokémon GO is a question all Trainers have asked themselves over the years since the game released. After all, in a game about getting out and catching Pokémon, having enough Poké Balls to do so is important.

However, with so many Pokémon to catch, especially during events like GO Fest and Community Day, resources can run low. Getting enough Poké Balls is a constant battle and requires planning and upkeep.

Here is how to get more Poké Balls in Pokémon GO.

How do you get more Poké Balls in Pokémon GO?

Thankfully, with Poké Balls being so important, there are lots of ways to get them in game. Here are the most common ways:

  • Spinning Poké Stops
  • Spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • Timed Research
  • Special Research
  • Field Research
  • Weekly Adventure Rewards
  • Purchase via the in-game Shop

As you can see, you're never short of ways to get Poké Balls in Pokémon GO. These methods apply to all types of Poké Balls too. You can get standard Balls, Great Balls and Ultra Balls through these methods.

What is the best way to get Poké Balls in Pokémon GO?

The best and easiest way to get more Poké Balls in Pokémon GO is by spinning Poké Stops and Gym Photo Discs in the game. You can do this either manually, or with an accessory like the Pokémon GO Plus+.

This is free, and allows you to stock up on the resources that you need without a lot of effort or spending any of your valuable Poké Coins.

You get bonus items from spinning Gym Photo Discs if your team controls that Gym. So, why not take over the Gym before spinning the disc?

Event Specific Field Research

Completing Field Research is also another very good way to get Poké Balls, especially the higher rarity Great and Ultra Balls. During events, including Pokémon GO Fest and Pokémon GO Community Day, there are often event specific Field Research tasks.

Niantic knows you burn through your Poké Ball stash in Pokémon GO quicker during events like these, so they offer Field Research to help. These are usually easy to complete (EG: Catch 3 of the featured Pokémon) and reward a small amount of Poké Balls as a result.

Burning through a few of these tasks quickly during an event can dramatically increase the amount of Poké Balls you have.

Purchasing Poké Balls from the in-game shop

Finally, if you are in desperate need of a top-up you can always find Poké Balls in the Pokémon GO Store. Usually, you can only buy standard Poké Balls in the store. We advise against this, it is a pretty bad deal especially when you can spin a few Poké Stops to get them for free.

However, sometimes Niantic does include Poké Balls, Great Balls and Ultra Balls in special boxes or bundles. These are sometimes better value. Particually on Community Day, Niantic sell some boxes that contain rare items like Star Pieces, Incubators and Elite TMs that also includes Ultra Balls. If you have the Coins to spend, these can be decent value for money.

Overall, you should always be able to grab some extra Poké Balls if you're ever running low.
